1/🧵Should monuments and tributes of people of questionable characters be removed? Sometimes, statues are built in honour of certain individuals, schools and major infrastructure are dedicated to them, what happens when the world learns that they were terrible humans? Should their names be taken off, or should they just be left as they are?

2/🧵The main reason for building a monument is to commemorate a person or culture. Before a state or nation builds a monument of a person, it means such a person has done noble work, and doing this will help keep their legacy and the memory of the person in the hearts of the people. Whenever they pass the monument, they will always remember the good work such a person has done for the community or society. In a nutshell, if a monument is not adding value to a community or doesn’t represent you, you have every right to question the monument. Nobody is perfect; it will be better if we focus on the good side and neglect the bad side.

at this point in time, I think they should not be taken out, since they did something worthy of being put there in the first place
