Is it no longer a new thing that our social media are uncensored? Most of the content posted on various social media sites is so unhealthy for the kids to consume. Most times, when I come across some content, I will be disappointed that someone posted this kind of content online. I get to understand that people don’t value themselves any more. Some of the content posted on this social media is enough to corrupt the minds of the kids, which is very bad. One thing about kids is that they are too smart. When you expose them to unhealthy content, it will affect them when they grow up.

Coming to the question of who is responsible for the censorship of the content, the owners or the parents of the children.

The parents should be responsible for the censorship of the content. It is no longer a new thing that social media content is not safe for growing kids. Currently, some parents are so careless that they allow their kids to consume unhealthy content online, forgetting that those kids don’t have the capability to handle what they consume from that content.

Early last month, I was in a spa when someone was talking about what happened in their neighbourhood. A kid killed her sister over a little issue. She did this act without her parents knowing. The parents only got to know because they went to check their CCTV. I was lack of words when they were narrating this story. A lot of questions came to my head. I quick asked people staying there where they thought they had learnt such an evil act. Such a kid who was able to murder her sister because of a little issue will do more if it is not corrected on time.

Believe me, parents have a 90% role to play when it comes to things that their kids consume online. It is the duty or responsibility of the parents to monitor what their kids consume on social media. The work is getting more advanced day by day, and those kids need to be monitored for things they consume online. The internet is corrupt, which is why parents need to monitor what their kids are doing.

When it comes to monitoring what the kids consume online, I give my aunty credit. Before her kids watch any movies, she will review them first. She even locks some channels in her DSTV decoder so that the kids will not access them even if she is not around.

Even the book advises parents to train up a child in the way he should grow, and when they are older, they will not depart from it. That is to say, as a parent, you have a rule to play in the life of your kids that you should monitor and what they do because what they learn when they are young will be very hard to depart from.

As a parent, you should try your best to guard and monitor your kids and teach them things that will help them grow.

Conclusion: We should always monitor the things our kids consume online. Remember, what they are taught in the early stages will take a long time to build.
