my first time experience travelling
Good day and happy weekend! amazing people of the hive block chain am so delighted to welcome you guys back to my blog and welcome to another edition of the # Hivenaija weekly prompts.
I have always wished to get to an age where my parents will allow me to do whatever I like. If there is something I like the most about growing up, it’s travelling. When I see you carrying back, I will run and bring my slippers to follow you. Mom always flogs me this, but I didn't want people living in the neighbourhood to nickname me Follow Follow. If mom wants to travel or go out back, then she has to sneak out of the house because of me.
Growing up, I loved travelling so much. It is a hobby I love so much. Afar from my secondary school, my elder sister called that I should come over to her place and stay hearing of this. I was so happy that day to cope with the fact that I am going to Lagos. My classmates who have travelled to Lagos keep telling me things about Lagos. I was like, Cindy, you are finally going to this Lagos to see things for yourself. My friend always tells me that Lagos is too busy. Even by 12 a.m., you will see people in the street.
Because of the stories my friend has been telling me about Lagos, each day my elder sister calls the house. I will always tell her I want to visit her and that she should help me and beg mom and dad for me to visit her. The moment my request was granted, I was so happy. The next day, I washed all my dirty clothes and was ready to travel.
In two days, I boarded buses going from Aba to Lagos. My dad took me to park, and he gave me some fatherly advice. I enjoyed every bit of the journey. There was a lot for me to eat because my mom woke up very early that day and prepared food for me. The passengers were very fun to be with. I was sitting close to the window, and I was just looking like a Christmas goat because I wanted to capture every memory of this journey.
I never knew that a pregnant woman was sitting in front of me before we knew it. Her water broke and she went into labour inside me. I was wondering why a pregnant woman would be going on a long-distance journey. There is no hospital around where they can take the woman. The driver stopped the car so that we could find a way to help the pregnant woman, but there was no other way than to self-deliver. All the guys in the car came down from the car.
The woman was just in pain. I felt for the lady. Thanks to God, one of the passengers was a midwife. She had the woman to put to birth. I couldn’t stop crying watching the pain the woman was going through. The woman was put to birth successfully, and everyone in the car was so happy. The midwife helped clean her up. When you got to Asaba, she was taken to the hospital for a proper examination. We left her in the hospital and continued our journey.
This experience was so significant to me. That was the day I believed that God is too much and women are too strong. This changed a lot of things about me. I used to see myself as a weak vessel. The experience made me respect my mom more after seeing the delivery process.
Getting to Lagos, my aunt was already waiting for me in the park. My holiday was very funny. My sister took my round of Lagos, and I was happy.
