Life without a phone will be boring

If there is something I can’t stay out of, it is my cellphone. It has become part of my life; I am so addicted to my phone. I am this kind of person that is so stuck with my phone that most times I ask myself how I got used to a phone that I can’t stay a minute without pressing.

I remember a day that a vehicle nearly knocked me down all because I was pressing my phone. My parent was very mad at me; they have been warning me of my addiction when it comes to cell phones. No matter how much I try to minimise the use of my phone in my life, it is still something I can’t do without since most of my sources of income come from online.

The nature of my work is such that I can’t stay a minute without my phone. I am always online gathering information for my company, staying a minute without my phone. I will have to calm my everyday life, which rotates around my phone. If I am not replying to email, I am sending email or I am booking an apartment. There are times I always wish I could stay off my phone, even if it is Five minutes. If I am not on my phone, I am on my laptop, my friends.

The way phones and laptops keep advancing every day and the thousands of things we can do with our phones are leaving us with no option other than to be addicted to our phones or laptops.

I can’t go 20 minutes without my phone, not to talk of one hour. There is this popular saying: don’t allow anything to control you. In my own case, my phone is having full control over me. I always have issues with my friend over my addiction to my phone. On several occasions we will be talking, and I will be so busy pressing my phone, replying to emails or sending emails, it always results in misunderstandings between us. The problem is my nature of work is something I can’t stay without my phone for; I can’t remember the last time my phone went off.

My reliance on my phone is giving me concern; I wake up with my phone. Even when I am preparing my breakfast, I am still on my phone booking an appointment for my boss. Recently my eye has been disturbing me due to constant use of the phone. Everyone in the house is shouting at me to minimise the use of the phone. How can my daily life still depend on my phone?

If it is within my power to stay off my phone or laptop for just 20 minutes every day, I will be the happiest person because currently I am having eye problems due to an exposure to too much screen time on my phone and laptop. I don’t think that life will be fun without these devices. We should not allow our phones to have control over us.
