Life changer
Good day, amazing people of the Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #indiaunited community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompt, 'the skill that changed my life'.

When I get to find out how big it is, how important it is for someone to have at least one skill more, especially in a country like ours. I am so grateful to God that I picked up a skill because this skill of mine has taken me to places, and I have been able to meet people. Before I get myself a white-collar job, I was feeding and surviving with these skills of mine.
Growing up, I always loved staying in the kitchen trying out different dishes. Everyone knows I love cooking, and they always trust me with the family meals, and each time I prepare a meal, it is always delicious. I started cooking for people at a tender age, and anytime they taste my meal, they are always surprised how a little girl was able to prepare such a delicious meal. At first I was cooking for fun, but as time went on, my siblings advised me to go for advanced classes for my cooking skills after my secondary school.
Thanks to my parents, who made everything easy for me. After I graduated from secondary school, I was enrolled into a catering school. I have that kind of parent that believes it’s very important for one to have a skill. When I told them that I wanted to go for advanced classes for my cooking skill, they supported me financially. While still in catering school, I was getting small, small work for myself, and people kept referring me to their friends and family.
When I gained admission into the university, that was when I realised the importance of this skill. As a student, you don’t need to depend on your parents. One fateful day, we were having a discussion in my lodge, and I notified them that I cook. After some days, one of my lodge mates asked me to cook for him. That was how I kept getting work from different clients.

Most of the time, a client will pay me more than we bargained. It's not just about cooking; I try to be creative and unique with my meals. My skill landed me a lot of contracts back then in university, and I would stay out for two days cooking with the help of my friends. People will always say that cooking is stressful, but I never find it stressful; rather, I enjoy every moment I cook. This skill of mine sustained me until I graduated from university.
I am so grateful I was able to learn a skill. Although cooking is my side hustle now, I do that when I don't have work; doing cooking is my pride.
Conclusion: in a country line mine, it is very necessary that before you enter a high institution, you should have at least one skill.
This is my response to the ongoing content on the #indiaunited topic: the skill that changed my life.

Wow, like you said, it's advisable to learn a skill before enrolling into a higher institution.
Catering is something I love too, I can't say I learnt it though, but I do follow caterers for work, and that has made me fell in love with cooking.
Thanks for sharing.
