Lie of omission is bad

Good day, amazing people of the Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #hivelearners community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompt, the lie of omission.

No matter how you justify it, lying is never a good thing. Lying is capable of ruining a home and a friendship. Most times we paint our lie just to justify the fact, but believe me, all lies are lies no matter what. You want to omit one thing about lies: people will tell them the way they will benefit from them.

One thing about a lie of omission is you always tell yourself it is a small lie that is not capable of hurting someone or damaging things. No matter how you see it, there is no lie that is small when it comes to a lie of omission. The majority of us practise this; we will not tell the whole truth; rather, we will paint a picture that will favour us. I see this type of lie as very dangerous because you omit the truth and come up with your story that looks like the truth. If time is not taken, it will cause a huge problem in the future.

I have seen a situation where an omitted lie caused a problem between them. They were able to resolve the problem with the help of a third party. No matter how small you think a lie of omission is, it is very bad. I have a friend whose beautiful home was ruined by a lie of omission. She had a child out of wedlock, but she never told her spouse the truth; she introduced the child as their lastborn. I will always tell her to tell this young man the truth. She was afraid that if the man found out, she would lose the man.

One beautiful thing about a lie of omission is one day the truth will surface. Like theyalways say, there is nothing hidden on the sun. The man gets to find out that the child is really her daughter and not their lastborn. The man was hurt, and he felt that someone he is about to marry is not transparent to him. That is how that relationship ended because of a lie of omission.

Lies of omission can lead to misunderstanding between people when they get to find out the truth; when the real truth surfaces, it leaves the person with the impression of betrayal. You see, this lie of omission, which we see as a little lie, has destroyed a relationship. I don’t know why people who omit lies always feel like they are far better than liars. They will always say, ‘I didn’t lie, but I didn’t disclose the whole truth.’ What is the difference between that?

Omission of a lie is very bad; we should all avoid it because in the long run the truth will surface. All lies are lies. Instead of omitting a lie, why not say the truth?
