I acted out of my character to save my dad.

As humans, there are times we act out of our will just to achieve a particular goal. Believe me, if you want to achieve a goal so badly, you are ready to go the extra mile just to make sure you achieve that goal. Everybody in the house knows me as a very cool girl, but some are pushing me into acting out of character.

What happened
One faithful day, I came back from school and met my siblings crying at home. I tried to find out why they were crying. They told me that dad was rushing to the hospital and that the doctor said he needed an operation. You must deposit the sum of 500 hundred thousand naira, which should be about 400 hundred dollars or more. I managed to gather two hundred thousand from friends.

The next morning I try down to the east to meet my dad. My brother was really doing well. I explain to him about my dad's condition and how badly I need his help. After I tell him the amount I need, he says he doesn't have money. Everyone in the family always complains that he doesn't help his brother and that he only helps outsiders. I kneeled and begged for his help, but he said he didn't have money to give out.

At this point, my mind was made up. I need to save my dad, and I am ready to do everything to help him. I stay back in his house for some days, and every morning I will dress up and follow him to market.

One faithful day he steps out and he forgets to lock his locker. I didn't think twice; immediately, I took the money from the locker and went straight to the bank because I have the hospital account number. I paid in the 500 thousand into the hospital account, and I called the doctor to confirm if he had received the payment. The total money I took was seven hundred thousand. I put the remaining two hundred into my mom's account in case I needed to buy any drugs for my father.

From there, I traveled to my hometown. When my grandmother saw me, she was very surprised. I explained everything to her. She felt very bad that her own granddaughter stole money. She was very mad at me. Granny will always be Granny. At first, my mom called me several times, but I didn't pick up her call because I didn't want any questions from her.

How it ends up.

The outcome was not fun. I don't know how my uncle found out I was in the village. He came with policemen and arrested me. My grandma begged and bagged. My uncle didn't even listen to her at that point. I don't care if I stay in the police station for months. My main problem is for my dad to be okay. My grandma really tried for me. I didn't tell my mom about my action. My grandmother has to sell some plots of land for her to be able to pay my uncle back.

That was how I came out of the police station. Even till now, my grandma hasn't told my parents about the problem I put myself into. I own my grandmother big time.
