Giving is a noble act

If there are some things I enjoy doing, it is helping people who are better off. Just seeing them smile makes me feel fulfilled and happy. My pastor will always tell us that we should give to people who matter, and that there is a blessing coming from it. He will also tell us that when you are giving, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is giving.

There are some people who give from their hearts, and there are others who give to show off their wealth or humiliate someone they are better off.

There was a time in my life that a friend helped. Do you know that my friend brags in my community and neighbours that if not for him, I would not be where I am today. For someone like me who doesn’t care about your intention of helping me, as far as I receive the help, I don’t care if you publish my name on a billboard that you help me.

Does it matter if you do good things from your heart or if it is simply a means to win favour?

Life is not really fair to someone; there are some people who find it hard to survive and need the help of someone to survive. Currently, in my country, we need people who understand what it means to do good for people. In my opinion, it doesn’t matter your intention of helping that particular person; as long as the person gets the help he or she needs at the moment, that is the important thing. One thing about helping someone is that the person will be forever grateful for the help.

Some believe in anonymous giving. Whenever I give, I don’t want the person next to me to know that I am helping someone. I don’t need the whole community to know that I want to help someone. There is one thing that my pastor taught me that I will never forget. He will always tell us that God loves people who give in secret, and when God wants to bless them, it is always loud. Whenever I am helping someone, I always do it in secret. I will never let people know or brag about helping someone.

Looking at the world we are in today, nobody gives to charity without having an intention in mind, whether they are giving for a campaign or to gain more followers and views on their social media platform. I have this uncle of mine who is very wealthy; he can never help you if he will not benefit from it. For the last two months, he opened a charity foundation. I was so shocked in my mind. I was wondering what he was up to. Just yesterday, I heard from the children that their dad wants to contest for the local government chairman in my country. There are people who are like my uncle who can only help the needy when they want to win their hearts.

When it comes to publishing online, there are some people who can’t do without social media. Their daily lives are on social media, so whatever they do will bring it to social media. Most of them have no intention of getting more followers or views; it is just that they are so addicted to social media. Most times, when people post videos, one of their followers or fans may decide to use him or her to reach out to people.

How will I feel if I find out that someone is only helping me to gain something?

On a serious note, I don’t care if your intention of helping me was to gain something in return. I don’t care as long as I get the help I need at that particular time.

Conclusion: I believe that it is good to help people who you are better at. Helping people is a noble act; you don’t need to show a show a high volume that you are helping someone. My holy book made me understand that God loves people who give in secret.
