Beyond physical beauty my standard for marriage

Marriage is a journey is not something you will wake up to one morning and decide to do. You need to understand the journey you are embarking on is not something that you will rush into. There is a whole lot of work here. This is two people coming together to become one. You must be willing to sacrifice, tolerate, and endure each other. There is no perfect marriage. What will make your marriage heaven on earth is your ability to understand each other.

In Africa home, when you come of age, your parents will be expecting you to start up your own family. Most times, they will pressurise you into marriage all in the name of wanting grandchildren. Most people who have been hurt and broken don’t believe in marriage. Once you mention marriage to them, you will be their greatest enemy.

As for me, I so believe in marriage; it is the only institution that was established by God. I believe in spending the rest of my life with a man that understands, loves and cherishes me.

Before now I always told my siblings how I wanted my dream man to be a tall, huge and fair man. A man that whenever I step out with him, people will tell me I am lucky to have such a man. Whenever I tell my siblings how I want my dream man, they will always laugh at me, telling me as time goes on, I will understand what life is. To me, them having this kind of man means everything to me. As I grew, I found out that my perspective about men changed. I was not after the outer beauty, but I was after a man that will give me peace of mind, a man that will understand that I am not perfect and am only human.

Normally I don’t like anything stressing me. All I need is a God-fearing man with a golden heart, a man who can read my mind and mood without me telling him anything a man who will support and motivate me. I want a man who will be my gist partner, a playmate. I want a man who will be a brother to me, a friend, a father and also a husband.

I can imagine marrying a man who is not romantic; that marriage will be a living hell for me. I need a romantic man. A man who will hold me so tightly in his arms and will never let go of me. When they understand, when they show affection, speak with me with love and respect a man that will pamper me as if, without me, he will not exist.

To be honest, I need a man who is financially stable, a man with ambition, a man thatt is hard-working, someone with a bright future who is always ready to bring out plans on how we can grow together. I really want a man who is focused, hard-working and ambitious.

Of course I want a man who will be a husband, a friend, a brother and a father that will take care of my kids and me, not someone that hardly stays at home.

I am ever willing to submit to my husband because as a wife I should be submissive to my husband. My mom will always tell me that two captains can’t be on a ship, so one has to be submissive for the marriage to work.

Marriage is beautiful; when we are with the right person, your home will be fun and a happy place.
