A little act of kindness can change a life. I have this belief that whoever comes into my life, there is a reason. Some are the stepping stones I need in order to make it in life, some will want to ruin and destroy me, and some will be there to advise and encourage me. Whenever someone extends help or kindness to me, I am always grateful. It makes me feel loved. The fact that someone has to show me a little act of kindness is something I can’t take for granted.

The feeling is something else when the kindness is coming from a stranger you don’t know, and it happens to be the moment you need the help the most; the feeling is always something else. The fact that this stranger owes you nothing but he or she decided to help you is something you should be grateful for. I will not lie; I have been favoured by people I don’t even know, and it always comes when I need the help.

After I graduated from secondary school, I gained admission, but my dad was having financial problems. I was at a point of losing hope of going to school. One faithful Saturday, as usual, I went to clean the church. One man saw me; according to him, he is always happy whenever he sees young people participate in church activities. He asked me about myself, and I told him a little about myself. I told him I gained admission into the university, but there is no money to further my education.

Immediately he told me that he will pay my school fees and sort other bills for me. I couldn’t believe it because that was the last miracle I was expecting. He called his personal assistant to enrol my name on the list of people under scholarship in his name. I could not believe it. I was so emotional I couldn’t control my emotions. I was shedding tears of joy because I never expected someone I know from nowhere to be so kind to me.

I can never forget this act of kindness because he really helped in contributing to my life. I can’t talk about my success story without mentioning him. I can never forget in life the fact that he helped me without expecting anything in return; it was a true act of kindness. A little act of kindness can put a smile on someone’s face. Don’t wait to have enough before you extend a hand of kindness. Kindness is a selfless act; it brings joy, comfort and happiness and gives support to the needy.

This is my entry on the ongoing weekly prompts #hiveghana topic strangers.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I really appreciate your comments, support and upvotes. Do have a lovely day.

Kindness really does hit different when it comes from strangers as you least expect that a stranger will be the one to extend a helping hand.
