My mental space
There's always that lone moment when we are left with an innate feeling or desire— one that is somewhat inexplicable. That moment when we just sit in our most comfortable zone while reminiscing on past events, and life goals.
Yeah, it's a common thing that happens to every existing being with emotions. For me, I would say the only way to escape my deepest fears and regrets in life is to create an imaginary space where I can envisage and bring into existence the little things I've always desired, even if it seems far fetched in reality.
Took this image from my balcony While I was in my thought zone
I hold onto moments like this not because I feel it's a norm but because it's a tool necessary for my psychological health and survival. Most times after experiencing a tough situation or after a hectic day, I'm left with nothing other than stress hormones flowing through my almost-collapsing veins. To relieve myself of this, I'd settle at a quiet restaurant, order a bottle of soft drink while focusing my gaze into the thin air oblivious of my surroundings as I plunge into a non-existent and imaginary world filled with glee and powerful emotions.
Feel free to call me crazy! but it's the one thing that has kept me going through the highs and lows. What's the essence of the whole struggle we go through in life if we can't create personal moments that can temporarily distract us from the stress-filled life that we encounter on a regular basis.
Sometimes when I'm too exhausted to even take a walk out, I just sit and turn on a good song. I do listen to artists like Alec Benjamin and Dean Lewis because their songs create a calm environment where you can take your thoughts through time and into the future. They direct my thoughts towards happy and optimistic events and off the stress we encounter in tphe quest to add meaning to our lives. Music indeed, is a great form of mind therapy.
I'm pretty sure one might be inquisitive about what I think of, right? Well, Most days I see myself as one of the most successful doctors ever known to exist, getting consultations and recieving invitations from highly qualified organizations in different places across the world.
While Sometimes I just envisage myself in my good old age telling stories and beautiful myths to my grandchildren in a mansion with all sorts of things that can make one happy — food of course, is always included — These things take my mind off the hustle and struggle of life, the bad day I had in college, or that hectic medical college exams which always seems difficult.
My mind wandering into the abyss for about an hour is all it takes to calm my nerves and replenish every lost life and crushed hopes in me.
For some people, they might envisage themselves as a a superhuman saving the world from evil and supernatural forces. It Might sound funny but most people or should I say "Some people" partake in this mind-relieving therapy.
Life in general is as hard as it seems but these little moments I set aside for myself on a daily basis even if it's just for an hour, is sufficient to keep me sane.
I don't know if it works for you but, there's always this little bit of hope hidden underneath my imaginations.
Sometimes I guess all we need to do is take a deep breath and find that quiet space where we can let go the of all that stress and anxiety that comes with facing reality.
Imaginations may seem far-fetched but I mean, our real Life goals are all far-fetched until they've been achieved so I'll rather create my own reality within my fantasies. Perhaps that way, I could temporarily create a mirage of happiness amidst sadness; fulfilment amidst failures and solutions amidst challenges.
