Understanding The Bible. MCGI TOPIC REVIEW

The Bible is the book of God’s Word given unto us. We are to read and understand so that we will be able to observe and do all that is written in it. We are not to keep it in our house, on our shelves as a piece of furniture. It is the book of the law. We must obey the commandments of God as it is instructed unto us in the Bible. We are commanded by God to read and meditate on the Bible. If you ask how many times we meditate on it, I will tell you that we are commanded by God to meditate on it night and day.
Joshua 1:8 (KJV) This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

The word of God cannot be understood by human knowledge. We cannot reason out the word of God. We need the help of the Holy Spirit to help us understand the teachings of the word of God. The Holy Spirit is the author of the Bible. It is written that holy men of old wrote the Bible as they were guided by the Holy Spirit.

Reading is what will open our mental faculties to understand what is written in the Bible. There is no way one will understand what he or she does not read. We must commit ourselves to reading the Bible. We should not think that we can understand the Bible by proxy. The Bible must be studied. It is studying that open our minds to understand what is written in the Bible.
