It makes me wonder how many lives would be saved if the Government dedicated a lot of resources toward life skills education (the Middle Way).
I think this will happen someday but it starts with us, to make better decisions & to live a well modeled life.

Incentives for politicians and crony capitalist are there to make sure homeless problems and drug addictions don't go away. It is easy to ask for more money, power and votes when it is for "war on poverty and drugs".

This shows how I should not be complacent.
If immoral leaders is part of the problem, it's important for us to become more moral, etc. Etc.

Us being moral is going to chance our interaction. If the governments have to be moral, the people in those organizations should be moral. @dan wrote the best book on governance systems I have seen: https://moreequalanimals.com/assets/MoreEqualAnimals-1.15.2021.pdf
With the systems proposed, we have a real chance at creating a moral government. Keep the page bookmarked for later reading.
I'm interested in listening to an audio version but it does not look like there is one on Audible.
Even with a moral form of Governance it would still need to be Governed by moral people
And yet, if an immoral form of Government is ran solely by moral people, it will be fixed

How do we get moral people into the government. The current systems are stacked against moral people and made both attractive and easy to get into for immoral people. That is why I love the ideas in @dam's book. It propose a governance system made of fractals where each voter is forced to be a candidate for the office.
I think my reluctance to comment or take a position on Governance for large countries like the United States is that I am not developed enough myself to have the skills to truly know how to deal with the complexities of the US.

I went back to some of the practical examples from the book and here are some quotes:
I am not knowledgeable enough to know with certainly but I suspect:
Online subscription based network states.
3 second voting / unvoting time.
Open source infastructure of which $HIVE is an inititual model.
Solves much of the topics @dan shared, but States with an S.

You should take a look at https://fractally.com I think it is @atma.love who introduced the project to me.
Yes, I was just about to comment that. It sounds a lot like what @atma.love has been talking about.

And yet, I still think it's Ignorance and the Unknowing of True Reality that causes almost all social ills.
Followed by:
A perfect system of Governance ran by fools won't solve anything.
Posted via D.Buzz
Agreed!
i agree with the former, but i hold a strong conviction that a "perfect" governance system could indeed lead to solutions to virtually everything. i see a picture of it.
Happy to discuss further.
@vimukthi
Page 72 of the book propose a more high tech solution involving blockchain technology. The underlying concepts are still not changed.
Can you make an audiobook version for Audible.com? @dan
There is someone on d.buzz with a very good reading voice.

I would definitely love to see an audiobook. That will make these ideas accessible to more people.
Ask and it shall be given.

Awesome, thank you @atma.love I just saved this to a Playlist so I can listen to it.

I'm listening to it now, but I'm wondering why he is referring to the United States as a Democracy when it is supposed to be a Republic.

i don't know, and i didn't know that it is a republic.
Yes, the United States is a Republic as far as I know.
And one of the reasons it got off track may be due to politicians referring to it as a democracy.

I just learned about the comment from Satoshi being directed at @dan.
Very interesting.

Society also requires more than morality, it also requires wisdom and mental discipline.
It's up to us to increase in Wisdom, Morality and Mental Discipline.
That is the starting point and it's also a lifetime job.
There is no other way, we ourselves must Lead by example.

I definitely agree with you!
