Silent Places – Old Garage in the Woods // Stille Orte – Alte Garage mitten im Wald

While walking through a small forest near Cologne, I wasn’t even on a proper path.
From a distance, I noticed a massive truck axle, completely overgrown and half buried in the ground. Things like that always catch my attention.
When I got closer, I saw there was an old garage behind it, wide open and already falling apart.
Thick branches had fallen onto the roof, moss and ivy climbing over the walls.
Inside were a few empty barrels, some old street signs, and plenty of broken glass.
Nothing spectacular, but exactly the kind of place I like to photograph.

1. View from the inside
You can see how the forest has already started to take over.
The doors are still standing, but everything around them is overgrown.
I liked the contrast between the straight lines of the structure and the wild green outside.

2. Interior
A few barrels, an old sign – that’s about it.
But the way the light hits the metal just works.
Sometimes that’s all you need for a good shot.

3. The window
Three old windows, all shattered.
The glass is yellowed, almost golden when the light hits it.
That’s why I kept this one in color – it captures the feeling perfectly.

4. Window in black and white
Same view, different look.
The textures come through stronger, the light feels cleaner.
For places like this, black and white just fits better – it focuses everything on the atmosphere.

5. Closer look
One step forward and the scene feels calmer.
The barrels and logs almost look like they belong there.
I wouldn’t call it a desk, but I like this one.

Während ich hier in Köln durch den Wald gegangen bin, war ich gar nicht auf einem richtigen Weg.
Von Weitem hab ich eine riesige alte LKW-Achse gesehen, komplett zugewuchert. Sowas zieht automatisch meine Aufmerksamkeit an.
Als ich näher kam, stand da wirklich eine offene Garage – mitten im Wald, halb eingestürzt, mit Ästen auf dem Dach und Moos an den Wänden.
Drinnen: ein paar leere Fässer, alte Straßenschilder und jede Menge Glasscherben.
Nicht spektakulär, aber genau das fand ich spannend.

1. Blick von innen
Man sieht gut, wie die Natur das Ganze schon übernommen hat.
Die Türen stehen noch, aber drumherum ist alles bewachsen.
Ich mag den Kontrast zwischen der klaren Form des Gebäudes und dem wilden Grün draußen.

2. Innenraum
Ein paar Fässer, ein altes Schild – mehr ist da nicht.
Aber das Licht auf dem Metall hat irgendwas.
Manchmal reicht das völlig, um ein gutes Bild zu machen.

3. Das Fenster
Drei alte Fenster, alle zerbrochen.
Das Glas ist richtig vergilbt, dadurch wirkt das Licht fast golden.
Deshalb hab ich das Bild in Farbe gelassen – das war einfach zu schön, um’s rauszunehmen.

4. Fenster in Schwarzweiß
Gleiche Perspektive, aber viel härter.
Die Texturen kommen besser raus, das Licht wirkt klarer.
Bei Lost Places passt Schwarzweiß einfach besser – es konzentriert alles auf Stimmung und Struktur.

5. Näher dran
Einen Schritt nach vorne, und das Bild wirkt wesentlich ruhiger.
Die Fässer und die Baumstämme sehen schon fast aus, als ob sie dahin gehören.
Einen Schreibtisch würde ich es jetzt nicht nennen :D Ich mag das Bild.
