The regulation of refuse dump in (JOS CITY)

IMG_4486.jpeg

Taking an evening walk today I began noticing the irregular positions of refuse dump situated in front of almost every blocks and apartment excluding the general one meant for the whole street, so I began to ask myself isn't this too dangerous for the HEALTH?

IMG_4447.jpeg

No room or space for ventilated and fresh atmosphere again, everywhere is having a different polluted stench. No strict regulation again from the JOS environmental management body and its really disheartening and with the growing population in jos city particularly there's chances all drainage canal will get blocked.

From the stagnant water bodies all around jos city not been properly cleaned and regulating it Human usage, because there are times after usage different obstacles are left in the water.

If the water we drink and the air we breath is always polluted there's a big problem at hand then. It will have effect to our body system beginning from the lungs.

Not only jos city but since I base in jos I will use it as an awareness to other rising cities in Nigeria. The likes of Kano state, Lagos state, Port Harcourt and then Abuja.
All these cities have something in common POPULATION. Which we call urbanization process.

It's difficult to see an irregular deposits of refuse dump in ruralisation areas which is the less populated.

some one told me all developed countries/cities must have some irregular positions of refuse dump

I totally disagree using Japan as am example, even China also.

I feel its just difference in mentality and the regulating bodies in charge might be reluctant to prosecute offenders.
If a group of people from different homes and areas travel to a different continent and lots of gatherings and immediately the occasion is over they clean the environment by themselves, that's to show how coordinated they are.

Visiting lagos state for the first time three years back, I saw refuse dump as huge as mountain and people are doing their business without beIng disturbed by the stench, I'm not generalising that the whole lagos state is smelling but the facts remain that most resident of lagos are facing serious pollution and environmental mismanagement.
Humanly, it gets to a stage where ignorance eats deep without we knowing that's causing a dangerous health problem, knowing fully well the things to avoid but instead keep mute till it gets out of hand.

Jos city is a place where the consuming habits is getting high because of its growing population, a place where different tribes across the nation comes and settle down, same as other fast growing cities, so the measures in regulating these refuse dump issue must be strictly followed.

I'm respective of the kind of people loving around and their mentality, because trust me the regulating bodies would meet very ignorant and remorseful individuals.
Irregular Refuse dump affects both Air and Water depending on the areas.

My personal regulatory ideas I want to state are
They should be refuse collector are every designated streets areas positioned at a distance and approved by the government body responsible for that.

IMG_4506.jpeg

Every gutters(drainage canal) leading to a non moveable river body must be kept clean. Same as all other canal must be a free way pass for water.

IMG_4468.jpeg

Fumigation should be adhere too, by all resident and house owner.
These are few I can mention. Thanks for reading through..
All images are captured by me.

Most times people blame the people in power for everything forgetting that as citizens, we also have own part to play.

People dump refuse anywhere or everywhere they go which is very bad. The smell in some places will be so bad that I wonder how people living there cope with the smell.

I hope people learn that a clean and healthy environment benefits us all.

Thank you for sharing.

Every action taken by humans can lead to either bad or good outcome
We should help the government with proper regulations of the refuse, when that is done, we are not only helping the government but also helping in preventing ourselves from the dangers of improper dumping of refuges

Providing refuse collectors at every street is a very logical way of dealing with such a situation in other to avoided unhealthy polluted environment and contaminated air

But regardless of those provisions, individuals need to adhere and comply to environmental regulations that are set to keep the place clean

Irregular refuse dumping is already an established norm in this part of the world. Back then when people still had traces of fear in them, this act was usually committed during the dark but currently even in broadlight it is done as if it is part of the country's constitution.
The repercussions of these because visible during the rainy season leading to natural disasters like flood that could have been easily avoided if people just do the right thing. Dammnn

You've said it all, it tends to generate more harm during the rainy seasons because all built drainage canal is already blocked and water tends to look for its closest level to flow. Hence causing erosion

Nice write up, though most people don't know the effects of dumping dirt close to the environment, this are some factor that contributes to erosion.

Sometimes, I keep wondering if we are not the ones creating more problems for the government to tackle. If we do our part by keeping our environment clean, we reduce the pressure on our health system and reduce the hazard of flooding, etc by a wide margin.

Nice work, man. We all should join in the fight against environmental pollution.
