A transaction made in excitement

Hello Digitalysts.
For this topic, I have so many stories to share. I've had my my fair share of wrong transactions, even messages sent to people who were not the intended recipient. Most times, this occurred as a result of lack of thoroughness and over-excitrment on my part. A few other times, I just missed it.
One such experience happened last year. My immediate younger brother kept calling and calling me while I was in the middle of a hot gist on the phone with my friend. At first, I just ignored him because I could almost guess he was calling to bill me and because I was enjoying the conversation with my friend, I did not want to hang up inorder to pick his. I only made a mental note to return it when I wss done.
When the calls became persistent, I had to excuse myself from the talk with my friend, I hung up and called him. After the exchange of pleasantries, he started his rounds of hailing and sweet talks, which I know as a preamble. Usually, I'd fake disinterest and sort of shush him while in fact I was blushing behind my phone from the many praises he'd sing to me but that day, I was so impatient, I couldn't wait for him to hit the nail on the head... hot gist was waiting, and I couldn't stand that excitement.
So I asked him, "What do you want?" He laughed and said it was only Airtime. Before I could finish saying okay and hang up, he added that I should send 1k, not #500. Usual me would question that, but no, I said okay, asked if it was his MTN line to which he confirmed, and I hung up. In a split second, I was punching the bank's ussd code and putting in the digits. When I was done, I went back and called my friend. I was on the call for less than five minutes when I saw his call coming in. That guy would never call to say thank you, so I excused myself again to ask him what was up. To my surprise, he said he hadn't received it while I said I had sent it. I thought maybe it hadn't gone through since I didn't even wait to see a confirmation message before swiping. I tried again, this time, it went through. I called him, and he said he hadn't received it. I asked what his number ended with, and he called it. I was correct. After about a minute and nothing on his end, he asked me to call the full number I sent the airtime to. To cut the long story short, rather than (080) as the start of the number, I had sent to a (070). At that point, all.my excitement turned to anger. I still had to send him another airtime, albeit this time I was careful but I was so pained.
Later on, he told me that he called the other number that started with the (070), and the person said he/she only received airtime once(I know it was a lie but there was nothing that we could do. The deed had been done) and it was deducted for Airtime loan repayment. So he/she sent him(my brother) just #200 Airtime. That experience was all it took for me to be a little less excited and more careful with my transactions.

1k, right?
That's fair enough compared to situation if had sent 10k instead lol😁
First, 2k, not 1k. Second, that money was important to me. I barely had enough for me to be losing that little one. I would have been so mad if it was 10k × 2. I would have even cried. Lol
Ah nooo, that mix up with 080 and 070 is such a classic, and the worst part is, you still had to send another one on top of that. I totally get the excitement and rush messing things up sometimes. That stranger really said they received only one recharge? Lol, they definitely chopped that airtime in peace. Lesson learned the hard way but I love how you shared it with humor
I know the person received both Airtime. It's their business. Me, I took the lessons and moved on. It happens.
I'm glad to know that you enjoyed this and found it humorous. Thanks.
