save half, spend half

sat 3/14 (pi day)

This is Ysa, my silly daughter. She is now 20. She also works full-time at a job she likes and is very good at. She also goes to college part time as is half way done with that.

The one thing I pounded into her head was to 'spend half, save half' back then, when her mama would give her $2 to spend at fun factory.. I would take $1 to save for her and give her $1 to go buy tokens to play. Now she has more money saved up than me!

Time is on her side big time. I wasted many many years chasing the big score instead of slowly but surely building my stack. Only now, I have a good plan, but enough about me and my stupidity.

I found this compound calculator online at https://www.investor.gov/financial-tools-calculators/calculators/compound-interest-calculator

Here's what I inputted for her situation..

and if she just follows this until she is 50.. this is how much she will have..

Now. the thing is, she is adverse to putting her money anywhere but a bank, so thats why i use 4% (like a good bank might give). I am fairly certain that this is enough to retire on, but who knows.. she might WANT to work till she's 60 or 70 or just keep adding to her stack.. the point is. its an easy peezy, nice and boring, safe and sure way to ensure her financial security.

any thoughts?

Awesome father/daughter pic, thanks for sharing! :)

Gotta save for the future, for sure. The "age of abundance" may or may not come.

I'd love to get 4% from my bank like I did a few years ago. Now it's 3.3% so if you know of any 4% places left, hit ya boi up wit dat info! :D

Happy weekend!

She's so lucky for having a father who taught her the importance of saving at a young age. 😇
