The Power of Visibility

If you want to succeed in anything, be it business, art, politics, you can’t afford to be invisible. The world is crowded with a whole lot of people offering similar skills, services, or ideas and are actually much more better than you. If no one notices you, it doesn’t matter how good you are.

Let us take world of advertising as an example. Companies spend billions making sure you remember their name. It’s not always the best product that sells the most. It’s the product you notice. Think about soft drinks. There are hundreds of brands, but only a few dominate your mind. Why is this so?This is because they make sure you see their logos everywhere. Stadium sponsorships, billboards, social media ads, they never let you forget they exist.

Or consider politics. Candidates can’t just quietly do good work and expect votes to roll in. They have to campaign, debate, hold rallies, get on TV. The ones who stay in the public eye tend to win. Even controversial figures often gain power simply because people can’t stop talking about them. Being noticed even for the wrong reasons can be more effective than being ignored entirely.

This doesn’t mean you have to be loud or fake. It just has to do with being strategic about being seen. If you’re a small business owner, you might sponsor local events, maintain a distinctive storefront, or run creative social media campaigns. An artist might develop a recognizable style, use bold colors, or exhibit work in public spaces to draw attention.

Even in your career, you can’t rely on quietly doing good work alone. Speak up in meetings, share your achievements appropriately, take the lead on visible projects.

Making sure people know what you can do is a top priority.

People really have limited attention ,that is the reality. If you don’t find ways to capture it, someone else will.

Standing out doesn’t have to mean being outrageous or dishonest. It means refusing to blend into the background. In a noisy world, those who dare to be seen are the ones who get the opportunities.

You're right, if we want to be successful in life, we can’t afford to be invisible. That's why we will see some companies making billions of naira that's because they don't stop in one place, they make sure they were seen everywhere just to make their brand is seen everywhere. Visibility brings opportunity.
