Lunch by The River: Where Fresh Air and Flavorful Bites Meet

Blog Banner.jpg

There are times when we only want a day filled with good memories with friends, whether it's a simple or planned get-together. Living in the province gives us the perks of having picnics right away without over-planning them ahead of time. And that is what I am going to share today.

The phrase "your partner's friends are not your friends" does not apply to me because I also treat them as my friends. My partner has a circle of friends, and all the girls go with the boys, too. And we have been together on adventures since then. Here's our planned lunch by the river.

We bought the food on the market but did not take photos because we did it as fast as possible. I cooked some rice for our lunch, and we will grill the vegetables at the river to save us some time.

We had already gone to the river, and I had just grabbed a piece of scarf. It was just about two minutes away from our house, and we already touched down at the spot where we would be having our lunch.

When we got here, the boys started cooking. They grilled some chicken and hotdogs. We just got lucky because our chosen spot has an available cooking area. It was accessible, and we just brought some charcoal.

While they were busy cooking, we started playing card games. You can see that there is money involved, but don't get us wrong—it's just a small amount. It was for fun. We played the famous "Tong Its" here in the Philippines. At first, I didn't know how to play it until my partner taught me, and I quickly learned. The game continued until the food was ready for serving.

After a few minutes, the food was ready for the feast. We just prepared it on the table. We also brought steamed vegetables and fish. We gathered around the table and started eating lunch. We enjoyed the food and forgot to take pictures while eating. Everyone was already hungry, so we just focused on our lunch.

After an hour of sharing good food with everyone, we also laughed at life stories and shared adventures. It was indeed a great lunch by the river for all of us.

We continued playing card games, but this time, the cards were in the boys' hands. They were the ones playing, and the girls were just cheerleaders. Overall, it was a fun experience. We will surely do it again once we all have free time.

I miss this kind of bonding. Before, we always go to my mom's hometown and we usually do that together with my relatives.

Looks like you guys had so much fun! And I wish I could also cook for picnic because it's best to eat the picnic foods just right after it's cooked. ☺️
