LOH Contest #230: Enjoying Work-Life Balance While Working from Home
Most people say that one must look forward to one's future self and have a vision of the goals one wants to achieve in the next years of their life. And sometimes, people tend to pressure themselves into looking forward to the future, they forget to live at the moment.
But I wanted to be an exception. It's time to live in the present and enjoy the life we have right now. In this blog, let me answer one of the questions for the Ladies of Hive Community Contest #230 about the part of my life that I enjoy doing most at the moment.
Recently, I made a big decision about my career. I worked as a Plant Accountant for a year, but I also have some side hustles online as a freelance content writer at Upwork. The responsibilities of an accountant have been very stressful to me, so I decided to resign from my position.
After my resignation, I decided to pursue my career as a content writer and blogger. It's time to start working from home, and it's the part of my life that I enjoy most right now.
I started answering job invitations from Upwork and sending job proposals to prospective clients. To successfully get more attention, I had to update my whole profile by adding more work samples to my portfolio and editing the writing jobs I offered.
I enjoyed doing it and did not notice that it was already giving me benefits. I have received job offers from clients, and most of them are hourly contracts. I wrote blog content for their websites, and the collaboration was great.
I also worked on writing personal blogs here on Hive and made sure to exert more effort on my content. This is because I chose to work and hustle from home.
Enjoying Work-Life Balance
Right now, I am really grateful that I have the chance to have a work-life balance. Since I work from home and my clients let me work flexible hours, I can still travel anytime and spend some time with my family and friends.
Another thing that I enjoy while working from home is preparing snacks that I really want with a cup of coffee. I can also do house chores for the family, like cleaning, doing laundry, and cooking meals for them. These are the things that I can do now and surely enjoy.
Even though I am in my comfort zone working from home, I still make sure to invest in my skills. I try to discover more platforms, read articles, and even watch tutorials that could help me be a better writer. Indeed, working from home right now is the part of my life that I love and enjoy.
