Moselle - view from Ruine Grevensburg
Hello Hive People and Friends
We are on a little trip to the Moselle. It's the birthday of my wife and we also celebrate our wedding anniversary. My wife reserved a table in a nice and little expensive restaurant and we planned some little hiking tours for the days we will be here. We got a little pension and winery in Kövening named Christoffel. Our room is small but there is a bed, a bathroom, a wardrobe and tiny balcony with 2 chairs and a little round table. Enough to take a shower and sleep. We will be outside for the most time anyway. While I write this the tram pass by directly in front of the house and I wonder how loud it will be later when I'm in bed. I'm writing this day by day when I have time.
Day 1
Early in the morning my wife made coffee and woke me up.
She went out to get our rent car. I drunk my coffee and packed the rest of the things I need for the 4 days. Also checked
#Ecency and
#Waves. I took a cold shower to wake up finally and when she came back we loaded the car and set out on our journey.
We drove around 2h and said that we will first drive to Traben-Trarbach and walk up to the Ruine Grevensburg after some food. We parked under the bridge and checked the location for some restaurants. I didn't eat at the morning and was hungry.
We went for the 'Historische Stadt-Mühle' and sat outside at this little fountain. We got a non-alcoholic beer and some food and a small salad. My wife and I liked how fresh the salads in the salad bar were. I had an omelette with mushrooms and potatoes and my wife just a salad with fried chicken. Good stuff!
Little Hike
Up to the ruin now!
After a bit through some small alleys we went up steeply to a cemetary. Leaving it behind it went downhill, then abit over the street to the wineyards uphill again.
Suddenly some wild stairs appeared and we were breathing heavy when we arrived the ruin at the top. But we got a nice view from there.
We went down on this side and drove to our pension to check in and to take a shower.
We drove to the restaurant and got some nice white wine and really good food. I had a very tender steak and my wife got some fish. I have forgotten to take photos of this. 😅
Day 2
We got our breakfast and we planned that we would go on a hike. It was hot and it should be over 30 degree at midday.
My wife said she got a tour and I had no idea where we go. She drove from our pension in the direction to the start point and the last kilometer I knew where we were going. I have been here before. She has found the Calmont Via Ferrata and it would be her first one. I asked here twice if she really wants to do this, but there was no argument she accepted.
Calmont Hike
Steep vineyards and the Calmont summit are not that easy but the reward with an amazing view over the Moselle loop is worth it.
I have problems with my phone tracking the tour, so my wife tracked with the Komoot App. The App always confuse me showing weird times and average kilometers per hour but I'm happy that I get the map tour data.

The map above shows you that you walk the lower part near the Moselle first. The entry point is from the parking spot directly behind the train bridge. You can't miss it. There are information panels and a place to sit.
We walked up and down through the wine yards and also had to climb a lot always looking to the Moselle and the incredible view.
You could constantly hear the noises and rustling of lizards, small snakes and mice. You had to be very quick to get a photo.
Above you see the train bridge where the entry point is.
This is the view slightly under the summit which most people know from postcards. I checked from above later but its mostly the same photo. On the left side you see the train bridge where we started. We walked further and the ways leads us to the village on the right side.
We came out at a parking spot nearby a little church and had to go right up a very steep path. No wonder, we have been already near the summit and went all down, now we have to go it up again and then we walked a path above the part we already passed. Once at the top it became easier. Not much ups and downs like in the wine yards.
The last part went downhill right to the bridge again. That was the part which was the most challenging for my thigh muscle.
I often found these EinundZwanzig (TwentyOne) stickers when I'm hiking or in different towns and here again, someone was here and left one.
Greetings to the Bitcoin community and the EinundZwanzig guys.
We were exhausted at the end and got some food direct beside the parking spot. I got a burger and my wife a tarte and we had 2 non-alcohol beer.

Day 3
My wife had problems to walk, pain in the hips and calves and I had just a little pain in the ankles. The thigh muscles were just a bit tired but okay. Our plan was a ship tour on the Moselle and just explore the destination Bernkastel-Kues. We made some photos along the Moselle. We also saw the huge Moselle bridge which took around 10 years to build. The amount of wine yards we saw along the river was crazy. The Moselle is the 3rd biggest wine area in Germany.
I was on a ship while using a barrage for the first time. That was interesting to see how it works.
The last three photos shows how the water level rises.
Because of the waiting time before we could enter the barrage we could not drive up the ruin in Bernkastel-Kues. We walked a bit around the center and got some overpriced ice cream. I found a Kölsches Eck (Cologne Corner) which was funny because I come from Cologne.
Back to the river port we went back to our ship and got all the way back where we started. We ate at Aroma - Viet Cuisine & Cafe and the food was very delicious.

Day 4
This day we planned to meet my mother who is camping near Cochem. We met in the city and walked around a bit before we got some ice cream. My mother drove back with her bike to the camping place and we took a bus to the Reichburg Cochem and took a guided tour through the castle.
Reichensburg Cochem
This was a guided tour and the guy made some good jokes besides all the historical facts. We got a nice view over the Moselle again from the castle.
From here we walked back down to the city and we drove back home. Thanks for reading and I would appreciate a vote and a comment.

Dear beloved Hive creator,
Coding poet Gudasol here to support you sharing your art + life on Hive.
As a fellow creator, I know how hard it is to get the word out there.
I built cXc.world to help creators like us get more support from the blockchain community + beyond.
Share your music on cXc.world, and copy the Markdown for a easy post includes embedded players for Spotify, Youtube, Soundcloud.
That way, you can earn HIVE + stack streams on centralized platforms, as they do still matter.
Not a music creator? No problem. You can still use cXc.world to find + share music you love.
What's next?
Preview the next evolution of cXc, Tetra.earth.
Expose local music from your area!
We're helping grassroots musicians, and you can too by adding their music (no sign up or WAX account required).

Bad news: Saying see you later to Hive! 👋
We didn't get the needed support to continue cXc.world on Hive, as our DHF proposal lacked votes, but [Good News Everyone] cXc.world will add a Markdown copy button, allowing you to easily share your music + music you find on Hive.
For now, we're on WAX, with tools you can use to mint your own Music/Media NFT collection.
