What emerged from sharing that trial balloon last night:

  1. It’s evident that everyone is pushing for their preferred candidate at The Fed. When a nominee isn't their choice or is an outsider, they face significant opposition.

  1. Regarding Bill, reactions reveal that many insiders oppose a practical, market-savvy individual for Chair of The Fed. Likely because a PhD policy expert might be more easily influenced than someone experienced in rates markets as both buyer and seller.

  1. There seems to be reluctance toward someone who would scrutinize and question The Fed from fundamental principles. Why resist this? Is the current system flawless? His tendency to reevaluate and reconstruct, proven at Fannie/Freddie, should be seen as an asset.

  1. Some are averse to collaboration with the White House. Why? Resistance isn't necessarily a strength.

This demonstrates that even if Bill remains unlikely to be seriously considered, his qualities align with desirable government direction.

It often boils down to a struggle between insiders and outsiders these days...

Let me just add this to the water table…

Bill Pulte would be an exceptional pick to run the Federal Reserve. He is excelling at Fannie/Freddie and has deep knowledge of rates.

The ideal next Fed Chair should either be someone who understands rates through active bond market participation or through expertise in housing and mortgages.

An added benefit is the ability to work seamlessly with the White House.

Bill embodies all of these qualities and would be excellent.
