Unveiling the Philippines’ Historic Gems 🏝️🇵🇭
Let’s all get lost in the wonders of the Philippines, specifically in my hometown-Marinduque.
It is a small province shaped like a heart on the map of the Philippines.
This beautiful island has a lot to offer in terms of nature, beaches, and peaceful surroundings. One of its historic places is called the Luzon Datum.

Come with me as I take you on a wonderful historical journey through our beautiful island.🏝️
Luzon Datum of 1911 is located in Mogpog, Marinduque and this is known as the geodetic center of the Philippines. The mark in the middle shows the exact “center” used for mapping the whole Philippines. It’s like a “center dot” that helps experts measure accurate maps of the country.

We went there on a weekend and drove for about two hours. I was really happy because I got to go with my family, my grandma, and my boyfriend. I actually went there years ago with my mountaineering club when I was in college. Back then, it wasn’t very famous yet and wasn’t developed. I feel lucky that I’ve had the chance to experience this place both before and now.
While we were on our way, we enjoyed the beautiful view of nature—the trees, the fresh greenery, and even the animals wandering outside their homes. We also saw people walking along the roadside, surrounded by the stunning scenery of the place. As we got closer to the Luzon Datum, the road started to go uphill, so having a big car was really helpful. After a long drive, we finally arrived. My father parked the car, and before we began our climb, we bought some water to prepare for the hike.

This has become a notable landmark. I can’t remember how many steps there were, but it was definitely more than a hundred. When you reach the summit, there’s a viewing deck where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery. We started climbing slowly while having conversations and taking photos. We also took our time because we were helping and guiding grandma. But yes—all of us made it! We reached the top, enjoyed the amazing view, and breathed in the fresh, cool air!

When we were on the top, there were also a few people up there enjoying the 360° panoramic view. It was silent, and the air was so fresh—just peaceful nature. We spent less than an hour, I think, because it was already late in the afternoon and we had to go down. But before we left, we took countless photos as a remembrance.

Did you ever wonder why it’s always easier to go back than to go up? It really feels that way. We actually had fun, and I’m so happy that I got to experience this with my family, my grandma, and most especially with my boyfriend. It’s nice that I was able to introduce one of the most important historical places here in Marinduque.

This was a moment we will never forget. The smiles on our faces and the time we spent together here were amazing.
And that’s all for today’s historical adventure! I hope you enjoyed this, and I hope you also get to visit our beautiful island province of Marinduque.
Until The Next Adventure!
