Art Journal: "Golden Hour at Sea" | Coffee Painting āšļø
Hello, Hiver friends and fellow art lovers! Iām excited to share my latest coffee artwork that I created today!
This coffee painting captures a sense of tranquility and warmth. I used shades of brown to depict a seascape bathed in the golden light of sunset. A lone sailboat is visible on the horizon, adding a touch of solitude to the scene. The palm frond, partially visible in the upper right corner, suggests a tropical location, enhancing the feeling of relaxation and escape. The texture of the paint, reminiscent of coffee stains, adds a unique and organic quality to the artwork. The overall effect invites viewers to imagine themselves adrift on the calm waters, enjoying the serenity of the golden hour.
I used three types of painting brushes for this piece, and it took me an hour to finish it. For those who are interested in trying this unique medium, you can follow the step-by-step basic methods below.
Materials Needed:
š Watercolor Paper, sketching Paper, or stretched canvas
š Pencil and Eraser
š Coffee Powder / acrylic white
š 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
š Ruler
š Clean Water
š Rag
š Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
š Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
š Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
š Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.
Basic Procedure:
⢠Outline or sketch your painting reference.
⢠Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
⢠On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
⢠The same procedure as the foreground.
⢠Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
⢠Then add details to bring your painting to life. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
