Art Journal: Deep Forest in Coffee āšļø
Hello, Hiver friends and fellow art lovers! A blissful Sday to everyone, I hope you are all doing well. I want to share the new coffee painting I created today.
In this post, I painted a fascinating landscape, There's a unique beauty as you step into a deep forest. The earthly tones of coffee can create a soft mist and dreamy atmosphere, and the flow of the cascading water brings a peaceful retreat. We always find calmness and restfulness in the natural beauty of the forest.
I used three painting brushes to complete this piece, which took me an hour. For those interested in trying this unique medium, follow the step-by-step basic methods below.
Materials Needed:
š Watercolor Paper, sketching Paper, or stretched canvas
š Pencil and Eraser
š Coffee Powder
š 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
š Ruler
š Clean Water
š Rag
š Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
š Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
š Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
š Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.

Basic Procedure:
⢠Outline or sketch your painting reference.
⢠Paint using a lighter background shade by creating a beautiful texture.
⢠On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
⢠The same procedure as the foreground.
⢠Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
⢠Then add details to bring your painting to life. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.

Thank you for your continued support of my art!

Greetings,
The cascading water must look so serene in those sepia shades. Your step-by-step guide is really helpful too. Do you find that the coffee gives you more control over the transparency compared to traditional paints?
I like them both, traditional paints and coffee medium. Thanks a lot!
God bless!
