Art Journal: "Dawn in the Deep Woods" โ๐๏ธ
Hello, Hiver friends and fellow art enthusiasts! I hope you are all doing well.
This stunning forest scene is not just a piece of art; it is a striking demonstration of creativity, rendered in rich, earthy tones of coffee rather than the traditional oils or acrylics. The interplay of light and shadow establishes a powerful atmosphere of serenity and mystery. This unexpected beauty showcases the true potential of creativity and the remarkable versatility of everyday materials. It serves as a bold reminder that beauty can emerge from the most unlikely places, even from the depths of a coffee cup.
I used three types of painting brushes for this piece, and it took me an hour to finish it. For those who are interested in trying this unique medium, you can follow the step-by-step basic methods below.
Materials Needed:
๐ Watercolor Paper or sketching Paper
๐ Pencil and Eraser
๐ Coffee Powder
๐ 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
๐ Ruler
๐ Clean Water
๐ Rag
๐ Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
๐ Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
๐ Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
๐ Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.
Basic Procedure:
โข Outline or sketch your painting reference.
โข Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
โข On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
โข The same procedure with the foreground.
โข Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
โข Then add details to come alive of your painting. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
