Art Journal: "Coffee Landscape at Sunset" βποΈ
Greetings, Hiver friends and fellow art enthusiasts! How are you doing? I hope youβre all having a wonderful day.
This coffee painting captured a powerful moment, It embodies a sense of quiet and stillness, reflecting the gentle passage of time. The muted browns and golds assertively convey the essence of a fading day, while the soft light hints at a serene sunset. The lone, bare tree stands as a steadfast sentinel, a silent witness to the tranquil scene that unfolds. The meandering stream, a striking ribbon of light, guides the eye through the landscape, inviting deep contemplation and cultivating a sense of calm. This painting speaks directly to the soul, providing a refuge from the chaos of the world. Utilizing coffee as a medium introduces a unique texture, enhancing the overall feeling of serenity and quiet beauty.
I used three types of painting brushes for this piece, and it took me an hour to finish it. For those who are interested in trying this unique medium, you can follow the step-by-step basic methods below.
Materials Needed:
π Watercolor Paper or sketching Paper
π Pencil and Eraser
π Coffee Powder
π 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
π Ruler
π Clean Water
π Rag
π Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
π Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
π Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
π Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.
Basic Procedure:
β’ Outline or sketch your painting reference.
β’ Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
β’ On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
β’ The same procedure with the foreground.
β’ Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
β’ Then add details to come alive of your painting. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
