Art Journal: "A Bridge at Sunset" | Coffee Painting βποΈ
Hello, Hiver friends and art enthusiasts! How are you there? I hope you are having a wonderful day.
This coffee painting powerfully evokes a sense of serene mystery. The warm, golden tones of the coffee establish a calm and tranquil atmosphere that captivates the viewer. The silhouetted figures on the bridge introduce a compelling touch of intrigue, while the soft light of the setting sun casts a gentle glow over the scene. The overall effect commands peaceful contemplation, amplified by the unique texture and warmth of the coffee medium. This painting invites the viewer to envision the scene as an essential space for quiet reflection at the close of the day.
I used three types of painting brushes for this piece, and it took me an hour to finish it. For those who are interested in trying this unique medium, you can follow the step-by-step basic methods below.
Materials Needed:
π Watercolor Paper or sketching Paper
π Pencil and Eraser
π Coffee Powder
π 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
π Ruler
π Clean Water
π Rag
π Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
π Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
π Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
π Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.
Basic Procedure:
β’ Outline or sketch your painting reference.
β’ Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
β’ On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
β’ The same procedure with the foreground.
β’ Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
β’ Then add details to come alive of your painting. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
