Visiting Ninho das Águias and Nova Petrópolis, RS, Brazil [EN/PT-BR]

Taking advantage of the day off, I decided to visit an attraction that I hadn't yet seen in Nova Petrópolis, in the Hortênsias region, in southern Brazil. Ninho das Águias is a park dedicated to hang gliding and has a privileged view of the Caí River Valley and the entire region of Caxias do Sul, the main city in the Serra Gaucha.

Created in the 1980s by the city council, the Ninho das Águias park is four kilometers from the center of Nova Petrópolis on the top of a hill 684 meters high, with access via the BR-116 highway. Access is all paved and the entrance fee is 15 reais for adults and 7 reais for students, children and the elderly.

In addition to hang gliding, residents and tourists usually spend the afternoon drinking chimarrão, a typical drink from Rio Grande do Sul, and enjoying the sunset in the late afternoon. With a privileged view, the place is also ideal for photographs.

Returning to the city, the main attractions are Rua Coberta, in the main square, where there is also the Labirinto Verde, a hedge, in the shape of a maze that entertains tourists and guarantees a challenge for those who visit the city. During event times, the square also hosts food trucks and trailers that offer typical food and lots of draft beer from local breweries.

Nearby, on the same avenue, is Zaandam City, a place built to honor and bring together the Dutch tradition both in gastronomy and in the settings that allow visitors to experience Dutch culture as if they were in Amsterdam. Opening hours on Saturdays and holidays are from nine to midnight, on Sundays from nine to twenty-two, and during the week from eleven to twenty-two, with the exception of Friday, which also runs until midnight. -night.

Nova Petrópolis is one of the oldest cities in the Serra Gaucha, founded in 1858 and received many German immigrants, a culture that remains today in architecture and gastronomy. In addition to the flowering and very well-kept gardens, the city stands out for the cultivation of strawberries and figs, widely used in jams, and for the manufacture of sausages and dairy products.

Despite not having the same structure of hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions as neighboring Gramado and Canela, it is a destination that is worth a visit, especially for travelers moving between Bento Gonçalves, Garibaldi, Caxias do Sul and the region of Hydrangeas.

Aproveitando o dia de folga, resolvi visitar uma atração que eu ainda não conhecia em Nova Petrópolis, na região das Hortênsias, no sul do Brasil. O Ninho das Águias é um parque destinado à pratica do voo livre e possui uma vista privilegiada para o Vale do Rio Caí e de toda a região de Caxias do Sul, principal cidade da serra gaúcha.

Criado na década de 80 pela prefeitura municipal, o parque Ninho das Águias fica a quatro quilômetros do centro de Nova Petrópolis no alto de um morro de 684 metros de altitude, com acesso pela rodovia BR-116. O acesso é todo asfaltado e o valor do ingresso é de 15 reais para adultos e 7 reais para estudantes, crianças e idosos.

Além da prática do voo livre, os moradores e turistas costumam passar a tarde, tomando chimarrão, bebida típica do Rio Grande do Sul, e apreciando o pôr-do-sol no fim de tarde. Com vista privilegiada, o local também é ideal para fotografias.

Voltando para a cidade, os principais atrativos são a Rua Coberta, na praça principal, onde também fica o Labirinto Verde, uma cerca viva, em formato de labirinto que diverte os turistas e garante um desafio para quem visita a cidade. Em época de eventos, a praça também recebe food trucks e trailers que oferecem comida típica e muito chopp das cervejarias locais.

Perto dali, na mesma avenida, fica a Cidade Zaandam, um local construído para homenagear e reunir a tradição holandesa tanto na gastronomia como nos cenários que levam os visitantes a vivenciarem a cultura holandesa como se estivessem em Amsterdam. O horário de funcionamento aos sábados e feriados é das nove à meia-noite, aos domingos, das nove às vinte e duas horas, e durante a semana das onze às vinte e duas, com exceção da sexta-feira que também segue até a meia-noite.

Nova Petrópolis é uma das cidades mais antigas da serra gaúcha, fundada em 1858 e recebeu muitos imigrantes alemães, cultura que se mantém até hoje na arquitetura e gastronomia. Além dos jardins floridos e muito bem-cuidados, a cidade se destaca pelo cultivo de morangos e figos, muito utilizados nas compotas de doces, e pela fabricação de embutidos e laticínios.

Apesar de não ter a mesma estrutura de hoteis, restaurantes e atrações turísticas das vizinhas Gramado e Canela, é um destino que vale a pena uma visita, principalmente para os viajantes que se deslocam entre Bento Gonçalves, Garibaldi, Caxias do Sul e a região das Hortênsias.
