Miro a mis sobrinos creciendo felices y me hacen sentir agradecida con Dios por cada instante que nos permite vivir este sueño llamado “VIDA”.

La infancia en lo más hermoso en la vida de un ser humano y si a eso le sumas haber sido criado entre verdes praderas, ríos y montañas entonces tu vida tiene que ser maravillosa.

I look at my nephews growing up happily and they make me feel grateful to God for every moment that allows us to live this dream called “LIFE”.

Childhood is the most beautiful thing in the life of a human being and if you add to that having been raised among green meadows, rivers and mountains then your life has to be wonderful.

Yo tuve la suerte de haber nacido en el campo y criarme en una familia número de 12 hijos. Cuando crecí ya los mayores se habían ido a trabajar y quedábamos los más jóvenes quienes nos la pasábamos jugando todo el día.

I was lucky enough to be born in the countryside and raised in a family of 12 children. By the time I grew up the older ones had gone to work and it was left to the younger ones to play all day.

En el campo siempre hay algo que hacer desde que te levantas hasta que te acuestas. Desde que despunta el sol ya los gallos nos levantan con su cantar Ki-ki-riiii-kiiiiiii. Mientras que las guacharacas y demás aves ponen el ambiente musical con sus cantos.

In the countryside there is always something to do from the time you get up to the time you go to bed. As soon as the sun rises the roosters wake us up with their Ki-ki-riiii-kiiii-kiiiiiiiii. While the guacharacas and other birds set the musical mood with their songs.

Los niños ya saben que en cuanto las gallinas cacarean es porque han puesto los huevos, así que todos corren a buscarlos en el nido del corral.

Los más adultos estamos muy ocupados en los quehaceres de la casa, pero los más chicos solo saben jugar, buscan palos que son supuestos caballos en su imaginación, las niñas cortan flores o hacen comida con sus hojas. Otros juegan con la tierra y por allá en lo lejos se escucha un grito de mama ¡vayan a jugar a otro lado!

The children already know that as soon as the hens crow it is because they have laid their eggs, so they all run to look for them in the nest of the barnyard.

The adults are very busy with house chores, but the children only know how to play, they look for sticks that are supposed to be horses in their imagination, the girls cut flowers or make food with their leaves. Others play with the earth and in the distance there is a cry of “mama, go play somewhere else!

Si ven a mi hermano pasar a ordeñar las vacas corren a la cocina a buscar una taza para ir al ordeñadero (así le decimos en tachira) a tomarse una leche recién salida de la vaca. Y si alguno le queda el bigote de la espuma de la leche de seguro se oirán unas cuantas carcajadas por un buen rato.

If they see my brother come by to milk the cows they run to the kitchen to get a cup to go to the milking place (that's how we call it in Tachira) to drink some milk fresh from the cow. And if one of them gets a mustache from the milk foam, you will surely hear a few guffaws for a long time.

Éntrelos primos siempre llega el que vive en el pueblo y es el niño que por todo llora, pero poco a poco se va adaptando, como es el caso de Gustavo, ese niño antes lloraba porque no quería compartir con los demás niños y ahora llora cuando se lo quieren llevar nuevamente a la ciudad.

Among the cousins always comes the one who lives in town and is the child who cries for everything, but little by little he adapts, as is the case of Gustavo, this child used to cry because he did not want to share with the other children and now he cries when they want to take him back to the city.

Las mamas siempre buscamos el rato para estar con ellos y realizar alguna actividad juntos, como por ejemplo ir al rio, montar caballo, salir caminar para visitar a los familiares cercanos y por la noche mientras regresamos a casa vemos el cielo tan estrellado que te hace alucinar. Y allí puedes ver la osa menor, la osa mayor y todas las constelaciones juntas, pero si es temporada de luciérnagas tardaras un poco en llegar a casa porque todos las queremos atrapar.

We moms always look for the time to be with them and do some activity together, such as going to the river, riding horses, going for a walk to visit close relatives and at night while we go back home we see the sky so starry that it makes you hallucinate. And there you can see the little bear, the big bear and all the constellations together, but if it is firefly season it will take you a while to get home because we all want to catch them.

Definitivamente los niños son felices en el campo y jamás habrá mejores vacaciones para un niño que estas. Jamás dudes de llevar a tus hijos a disfrutar de la naturaleza porque de ella separen de muchisimo y te hace sentir que valió la pena venir a este mundo a vivir.

Children are definitely happy in the countryside and there will never be a better vacation for a child than this. Never hesitate to take your children to enjoy nature because they get a lot out of it and it makes you feel that it was worth coming to this world to live.
