Greetings to everyone in the Vibes Web 3 community! Today I'm joining you all to participate in the Vibes Web 3 Community Weekly Contest, now in its 38th week. For this opportunity, I've decided to take on the challenge (for the first time) and take on a song that includes a vocal style that many admire: rapping. It's not something I do or have solid experience with, as some here may have, but I wanted to take on the challenge. So, here I am, bringing you my interpretation of the song by renowned American rapper Coolio, in collaboration with L.V., titled "Gangsta's Paradise." From 1995 and included on the album of the same name, "Gangsta's Paradise," the song took its musical base from Stevie Wonder's song, "Pastime Paradise," which is musically incredible. With this, Coolio created an anthem for young people and people on the margins of society who identify with its emotionally charged lyrics (such as anger, disappointment, bewilderment, and rejection) and are directly a social critique.
The song is an undisputed classic, making it hard for anyone not to recognize it. Even though the genre isn't something I listen to often, i can admire this work. The song was originally proposed for the film "Dangerous Minds" by director John N. Smith, also a great cinematic classic starring Michelle Pfeiffer. That film, similarly to the song, addresses themes such as street and domestic violence, society's indifference to vulnerable groups, the negligence of educational institutions and the government itself, among others. Although the song doesn't seem encouraging, ironically, it is that same force it possesses that could drive anyone to make a change. Even though he was the same artist, Coolio, who would give up drugs and alcohol in pursuit of his own well-being and as an example for young people. ¡Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Vibes Web 3! El día de hoy me uno por aquí para participar en el Concurso Semanal de la comunidad de Vibes Web 3, en su semana #38. Para esta oportunidad he decidido atreverme (por primera vez) a tomar una canción que incluyera una forma de usar la voz que muchos admiran: rapear. No es algo que yo haga o en el que tenga experiencia solida, como algunos aquí quizás si la tengan, pero he querido aceptar el reto. Es así cómo traigo mi interpretación de la canción del reconocido rapero estadounidense, Coolio en colaboración con L.V. y el cual se titula "Gangsta's Paradise". Del año 1995 e incluído en el álbum homólogo, "Gangsta's Paradise", el tema tomó la base musical de la canción de Stevie Wonder, "Pastime Paradise". Que es musicalmente increíble. Con ello, Coolio creo todo un himno para jóvenes y personas que, al margen de la sociedad, se sienten identificados con su letra llena de sentimientos (cómo la furia, la decepción, el desconcierto y el rechazo) y siendo directamente, una critica social.
La canción es un clásico indiscutible, siendo difícil que alguien no la reconozca. Incluso siendo que el género no es algo que yo escuche con frecuencia, puedo admirar este trabajo. La canción fue originalmente una propuesta para la película "Mentes peligrosas" del director John N. Smith, siendo esta también un gran clásico del cine con la actuación de Michelle Pfeiffer. Dicha película expone de forma similar a la canción, temas cómo: la violencia en las calles y la violencia familiar, la indiferencia de la sociedad ante sectores vulnerables, la negligencia de las instituciones educativas y del mismo gobierno, entre otras. Aunque la canción no parece ser alentadora, irónicamente es esa misma fuerza que tiene, la que podría impulsar a cualquiera a hacer un cambio. Incluso siendo el mismo artista, Coolio, quién dejaría las drogas y el alcohol en búsqueda del bienestar propio y cómo ejemplo para los más jóvenes. Esta es mí interpretación, mi trabajo, espero que lo disfruten. Fue hecho con mucho cariño y esfuerzo. Muchísimas gracias por pasar por aquí, un abrazo.
