Tuesday's compilation: The woodpecker [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Visual Shots community. Today I'm joining you to share a new photo collection. This time it's a collection of photos I took around my neighborhood in Puerto Ordaz. My partner and I had planned to go up to Alta Vista today to do some things there and take some pictures, but the sun was so intense that, frankly, we weren't in the mood, so we ended up taking photos much closer to home. The weather here is often quite unpredictable, and what seems like a perfect, cool day can actually turn out to be quite hot. Especially in this area where we practically live in a jungle.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Visual Shots. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes una nueva recopilación fotográfica. En esta ocasión se trata de algunas fotografías que tome alrededor de mi zona de residencia en Puerto Ordaz. Hoy mi pareja y yo teníamos la intención de salir hasta alta vista para poder hacer algunas cosas allí y aprovechar de tomar fotografías, pero el sol estaba muy intenso y sinceramente, no teníamos muchos ánimos y terminamos tomando fotografías mucho más cerca. Aquí a veces el clima es bastante impredecible y lo que un día parece ser perfecto y fresco, en realidad termina siendo bastante caluroso. Sobre todo en esta zona donde vivimos prácticamente en una selva.
With that in mind, this time I focused on taking some nature photos: the patterns, the shapes, the contrasts between background and foreground, the colors, and so on. Specifically, the first photo you see in the post is of a large palm tree where you can always find woodpeckers that come up to the tree and do their peculiar work. I think my husband must have taken a picture of them at some point, but I've never had the chance to capture one myself. The thing is, thanks to the percussive activity of these birds, the palm tree has this shape. In fact, if you look closely at the photograph, you can see some marks from the little birds' beaks. This area of the house is my favorite because there are several benches where you can sit and rest and take in the whole view.
Tomando eso en cuenta, está vez me enfoque en tomar algunas fotografías de la naturaleza; los patrones que se crean, las formas, los contrastes entre fondo y figura, sus colores y eso. En específico, esa primera fotografía que ven en la publicación, es una gran palmera dónde siempre siempre se encuentran pajaritos carpinteros que se acercan hacia ese árbol y hacen su peculiar trabajo. Creo que en algún momento mi esposo habrá podido hacerles un retrato, pero nunca he tenido la oportunidad de capturar alguno de ellos. La cuestión es que gracias a la actividad de percusión de estás aves, la palmera tiene esta forma. De hecho, si se acercan a la fotografía podrán ver algunas marcas de los picos del pajarito. Esta zona de la residencia es mi favorita porque por allí hay varios banquitos donde uno se puede sentar a a descansar y ver todo el panorama.
Something I haven't done in a while is edit photographs, and it's something I miss quite a bit because I honestly loved taking photos so I could get to that point of changing various aesthetic aspects. Although I know that in the process you lose a lot of the "purity" of the image. However, I believe that the character and value are still there; it's just that you want to personalize the image even more, and well, why not? Of course, at a certain point, it already seems like a different kind of artistic intervention, but I still maintain that it's still my own work. Algo que tengo tiempo sin hacer es editar las fotografías y es algo que extraño bastante porque sinceramente me encantaba tomar fotos para poder llegar a ese momento de cambiar varios aspectos estéticos. Aunque en el proceso yo sé que se pierde muchísimo la "pureza" de la imagen. Sin embargo, yo considero que el carácter y valor sigue estando allí, solo que uno busca personalizar aún más esa imagen y vaya ¿por qué no?. Eso sí, en cierto punto eso ya parece una intervención artística de otra índole, pero sigo manteniendo el hecho de que no deja de ser de autoría. Finalmente sin más que decir, muchísimas gracias por pasar por aquí y leer/ver mi publicación.
