Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community. Today I'm joining you here to share a new post about my day-to-day life. On this beautiful Monday, we kicked off "Purple-Yellow Week," a week in which the kids can only paint with those two colors: one primary and one secondary. This is done to create contrasts between the primary and secondary colors, allowing the paintings to look much more organic (as we would see them in real life), without losing saturation or becoming "dirty." For example, when black is used to "darken" a tone in order to create shadows, we only create a tone that loses saturation and brightness, leaving behind some of that unpleasant trace that black has. It is much better to break up the color, in any case.

This week, two new students arrived, so they quickly joined in with this week's work. One of them was particularly different, as he did the exercise in a very beautiful and accurate way. I confess that I was quite surprised, and this result is not a matter of chance, as it is clear that this boy has been working (at home or perhaps at another academy—or it is pure instinct) on issues such as drawing and color. He understood the task perfectly and executed it with great care and affection. The other students were surprised. On the other hand, I never dismiss the students' work because everyone's results will vary, and not only because of the time spent, the technique, or the materials, but because we are all different, and that is evident even in this area.

Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Lifestyle. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes una nueva publicación sobre mi día a día. En este lunes tan bonito, tuvimos el comienzo de la "Semana Violeta-Amarillo", una semana en la cual los chicos solo pueden pintar con esos dos colores: uno primario y el otro secundario. Eso se toma en cuenta para poder crear contrastes entre los colores primarios y secundarios, permitiendo que los trabajos pictóricos luzcan mucho más orgánicos (a cómo realmente lo veríamos en la vida real), no pierdan saturación y no se "ensucien". Por ejemplo, cuando se usa el negro para "oscurecer" un tono en favor de hacer sombras, solo creamos un tono que pierde saturación y brillo, dejando algo de ese rastro no muy agradable que tiene el negro. Es mucho mejor quebrar el color, en todo caso.

Ahora esta semana llegaron dos nuevos estudiantes, así que se unieron rápidamente al trabajo de esta semana. Uno de ellos fue particularmente diferente, pues realizó el ejercicio de una forma muy bella y además bien acertada. Confieso que me sorprendió bastante y este resultado no es una cuestión al azar, pues se nota que este chico ha estado trabajando (en casa o quizá en otra academia -o es puro instinto-) en cuestiones como dibujo y color. Entiendo perfectamente la tarea y la ejecutó con mucho cuidado y cariño. Los chicos se sorprendieron. Por otro lado, yo nunca desestimo el trabajo de los estudiantes pues los resultados de todos van a variar y no es solo por el tiempo dedicado, la técnica o los materiales, sino porque sin duda alguna todos somos diferentes y eso se ve hasta en esta área.

I always tell the kids that the important thing is not to focus on those aspects, because they will eventually come with the work, but to learn from the process: to observe, to calculate lines and directions, the scale of objects, shapes, etc. This day was very productive. We worked with still life, and as you can see, everyone had pretty good results. I think they have gradually accepted the value of "thinking outside the box." After that, we went out to the park for a while as a reward for their work. There I also ran into a former student and her friends. It was a beautiful day. That's all for now. Por ejemplo, si eres del tipo de persona que busca la belleza inmediata en un dibujo, posiblemente estés dejando de lado un poco otras características importantes: cómo forma, proporción y textura. Yo siempre le digo a los chicos que lo importante no es concentrarse en esos aspectos, pues eventualmente van a llegar con el trabajo, sino que aprendan del proceso: a observar, a calcular las líneas y direcciones, la escala de los objetos, las formas, etc. Este día fue muy productivo, trabajamos con el bodegón y cómo pueden ver todos tuvieron resultados bastante buenos. Creo que poco a poco han aceptado el valor de "pensar por fuera de la caja". Luego de ello salimos un rato al parque, cómo recompensan por su trabajo. Ahí también me encontré con una antigua estudiante y ella con sus amigas. Fue un bonito día. Son más que decir, muchísimas gracias por pasar por aquí.
