Saturday Photo Collection: Delicate Nature [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Photography Lovers community. Today I'm joining you to share a new series of photographs taken in my city, Puerto Ordaz. As always, my inclination is towards portraits of people or nature. Today was a day for nature photography, so I went for a walk around the area to see what I could find.
These photographs seem to have something in common (besides the fact that they are all elements of nature), and that is that they seem quite "feminine." It's said that lines with curves or sinuous lines tend to appear much more "feminine" than straight or broken lines. The latter, straight lines, tend to be "masculine." It's not that these lines (which create shapes) are literally of a defined gender or anything like that, but rather that they tend to give a certain impression. For example: sinuous lines are reminiscent of feminine curves, the ocean waves, the movement of nature, etc. It's soft and delicate. On the contrary, according to Gaudí, masculine lines represent order, firmness, and strength. Hence, these lines are deliberately used to create images that are true to what the artist wants/desires. I should clarify that this is entirely subjective and depends heavily on each person's idiosyncrasies. Language has many forms.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Photography Lovers. El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes una nueva serie de fotografías tomadas en mi ciudad, Puerto Ordaz. Cómo siempre, mi inclinación siempre se va hacia retrato de personas o la naturaleza. Hoy fue día de tomar fotografías de la naturaleza, así que salí a dar una vuelta por la zona y ver qué encontraba.
Las fotografías de esta ocasión parecen tener algo en común (a parte del hecho de que son todas ellas elementos de la naturaleza) y es que parecen ser bastante "femeninas". Se dice que las líneas que tienen curvas o son sinuosas, tienden a parecer mucho más "femeninas" que las líneas rectas o quebradas. Estas últimas, las líneas rectas, tienden a ser "masculinas". No es que literalmente esas líneas (que crean formas), sean de un genero sexual definido o algo por el estilo, sino que tienden a dar cierta impresión. Por ejemplo: las líneas sinuosas recuerdan a las curvas femeninas, el oleaje del mar, el movimiento de la naturaleza, etc. Es suave y delicado. Por el contrario, según Gaudi, las líneas masculinas representan el orden, la firmeza y la fuerza. De allí que esas líneas se usen de forma deliberada para crear imágenes que resulten fieles a lo que el autor quiere/desea. Aclaro que esto es algo totalmente subjetivo y que depende mucho de la idiosincrasia de cada quién. El lenguaje tiene muchas formas.
In any case, I think it's beautiful to find these coincidences in the images one creates. I love finding those small flowers, opening their petals and displaying their beautiful colors. I don't take anything for granted, so when I have the opportunity to photograph something I really like, I do it. Sometimes I pass by the same place and the flowers have closed, fallen, or I simply don't have the chance to take any pictures. So when I do have my camera in hand, I take advantage of it to do what I want. Besides the colors and shapes, I also like the patterns, the rhythm of the leaves, and that movement. It's endless material. By the way, after a short rain shower, a rainbow appeared. I think I'll take advantage of the opportunity to go outside and say goodbye to the day, and let me take a picture. En todo caso, creo que es bonito encontrar esas coincidencias en las imágenes que uno hace. Me gusta encontrar esas pequeñas flores, abriendo sus pétalos y mostrando sus bellos colores. Yo no doy nada por sentado, así que cuando tengo la oportunidad de registrar salgo que me gusta mucho, lo hago. Hay momentos es lo que paso por el mismo lugar y las flores se cierran, se han caído o simplemente no tengo la oportunidad de hacer ninguna fotografía. Así que cuando sí tengo la camara en la mano, aprovecho para hacer lo que quiero. Me gustan además de los colores y formas, los patrones, el ritmo de las hojas y ese movimiento. Es material infinito. Que por cierto, después de una corta lluvia que cayó aquí, salió un arcoiris. Yo creo que aprovecho a salir para despedir el día y dejar que le tomara una foto. Finalmente, eso es todo por hoy.
