Pepito was neutered [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Hive Pets community! Today I'm joining you to share a new feline adventure. This time, I bring you a new story with my beloved Pepito, who had his first neutering surgery this week. We had been wanting to do this for a while, but things got complicated in December, and we were only able to recover a bit in January and make it possible for the kitten. The good thing is that Pepito is just a kitten of about 7 months old, so he was still a good age to be neutered, and he's also a pretty healthy kitten. So the pressure wasn't too great, but it had to be done. So, on Thursday, Pepito said goodbye to that opportunity to bring kittens into this world.
Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Hive Pets! El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes una nueva aventura gatuna. En esta oportunidad les traigo una nueva historia con mi querido Pepito, quién en esta semana tuvo su primera operación para ser castrado. Teníamos ya un tiempo queriendo hacer esto pero por el mes de diciembre las cosas se complicaron y pudimos recuperarnos un poco en enero y hacer posible lo del gatito. Lo bueno es que Pepito es apenas un cachorro de unos 7 meses, así que todavía estaba en buena edad para ser castrado y también es un gatito bastante saludable. Por lo que la presión no era tan grande, sin embargo había que hacerse. Así que el día jueves Pepito se despidió de esa oportunidad de traer gatitos a este mundo.
How I wish I could have lots of cats, not have to neuter them, and have a whole bunch of beautiful kittens... But I don't think that idea is very healthy, because the quality of care could decrease since there wouldn't be enough hands to do it, and also because, according to veterinarians, it shortens the kittens' lifespan. So, for all these reasons, it's better to spay/neuter. That's why we took Pepito to Dr. Noel here in Guayana. He's an excellent veterinarian, and we've always had great experiences with him. So we left him there, and around four in the afternoon, we were able to pick him up and take him home. The care is the same as always: letting him rest and wake up from the anesthesia, applying the healing cream, and giving him his antibiotic.
Cómo me gustaría poder tener la posibilidad de tener muchísimos gatos, no tener la necesidad de castrarlos y tener toda una bella descendencia de mis gatitos... Pero creo que esa idea no es muy saludable, por cuestiones de que la calidad del cuidado podría disminuir por no tener tantas manos para ello y también porque, según los veterinarios, acorta la vida de los gatitos. Así que por todo y por todo, es mejor esterilizar/castrar. Así llevamos a Pepito al doctor Noel, aquí en Guayana. Es un excelente veterinario y siempre nos ha ido muy bien con él. Así que lo dejamos allí y a eso de las cuatro de la tarde pudimos buscarlo para llevarlo a casa. Los cuidados son los mismos de siempre: dejarlo reposar y que vaya despertando de la anestesia, usar la crema cicatrizante y su antibiótico.
But since Pepito is such a mischievous kitten, we had to put an Elizabethan collar on him so he couldn't pull out his stitches. It was also difficult to keep him calm at night because he needed to eat the other cats' food, and he couldn't. He peed on both beds, so I had to resort to an old reliable: a cardboard box. A cat's favorite thing. So he stayed there peacefully, especially after I put a hot water bottle in to make him feel better. The mission has certainly succeeded, and Pepito is already more awake and active today. I won't have any baby Pepitos, but my Pepito is going to be with me for many years. Pero cómo Pepito es un gatito tremendo, nosotros le tuvimos que poner el collar isabelino para que no pudiera sacarse los puntos de la sutura. También en la noche, fue complicado que estuviera tranquilo pues tenía la necesidad de comer la gatarina de los demás y él no podía. Las dos camas las orino, así que tuve que buscar una vieja confiable: una caja de cartón. La cosa favorita de los gatos. Así que allí se quedó tranquilo, más cuando le coloqué un guatero con agua caliente para que se sintiera mejor. Lo cierto es que se ha cumplido la misión y Pepito está ya hoy más despierto y activo.
