LOH contest #135: Gestalt and Insight [ENG/ESP]
Hello to everyone in the Ladies of Hive community! Today I am joining a new contest in the community, we are on #135, so this is my entry to answer the question of the moment which goes like this:
I want you to tell me a "hack" (a trick or shortcut that makes your life easier) that has completely changed your life. Inspire me and other readers. It can be any trick or change you've made. It must be something you DID YOURSELF. Tell me how it worked and what it took - did it cost you time, money, etc. and how long did it last?
¡Hola a todos en la comunidad de Ladies of Hive! El día de hoy me uno a un nuevo concurso en la comunidad, estamos en la #135, así que esta es mi entrada para responder a la interrogante del momento que dice así:
Quiero que me cuentes un "hack" (un truco o atajo que te facilite la vida) que te haya cambiado la vida por completo. Inspírame a mí y a otros lectores. Puede ser cualquier truco o cambio que hayas hecho. Debe ser algo que HICIERAS TÚ MISMO. Cuéntame cómo funcionó y qué necesitaste. ¿Te costó tiempo, dinero, etc.? ¿Y cuánto duró?
It has always been said how important education is, how it is a pillar for our society. But there is something that always puzzled me about this didactic process and that is that it is always assumed that when a student is given a class, he/she automatically retains and assimilates all the information perfectly. Something that we know is not usually the case. So, I wondered, how do we learn, is it something that takes time, does one lack intelligence when one does not understand a subject or content?
When I started studying education, we were obviously taught and given answers to some of these questions: didactic strategies (teaching, learning, teaching-learning), resources, techniques, competencies, educational psychology, planning, etc. But none of these seemed to completely fill my need to understand this cognitive process. There was a missing part. And that's when I discovered Gestalt during an Aesthetics class. What is Gestalt?
Siempre se ha dicho lo importante que resulta la educación, el cómo es un pilar para nuestra sociedad. Pero hay algo que siempre me desconcertaba de ese proceso didáctico y es que siempre se asume que cuando a un estudiante se le da una clase, automáticamente este retiene y asimila toda la información a la perfección. Cosa que sabemos no suele ser así. Por eso, me preguntaba ¿Cómo aprendemos? ¿Es algo que toma tiempo? ¿Acaso uno carece de inteligencia cuando no entiende sobre un tema o contenido?
Cuando entré a estudiar Educación, obviamente se nos impartían y daban respuestas a algunas de esas interrogantes: las estrategias didácticas (enseñanza, aprendizaje, enseñanza-aprendizaje), los recursos, las técnicas, las competencias, psicología educativa, las planeaciones, etc. Pero nada de eso parecía llenar del todo mi necesidad de comprender ese proceso cognitivo. Falta una parte. Y fue cuando descubrí la Gestalt durante una clase de Estética ¿Qué es la Gestalt?
Gestalt is a psychological current that studies human perception, how we are able to organize information into something coherent for us. Our brain performs these operations (receiving information, organizing and adapting it) in an automatic way and that is why Gestalt uses laws and principles that obey the nature of the human being. It uses laws because we can all re-recognize an image that we have seen before, for example, signs are usually graphic representations recognizable all over the world (mathematical, musical signs, road signs, etc.). And it uses principles because this process of perception is also individual and different results are obtained, for example, symbols get a different definition depending on the idiosyncrasy of the person (a swastika, a cross, a heart, a scale, etc.).
All this made sense when I understood that the teaching-learning process was linked to the way we perceive reality, in that the more information, the more we can connect with other knowledge and reach the so-called "insight", the radiance, the so-called "Eureka". Because all the parts together form something much bigger than individually. For example, I would not have been able to reach the "insight" of this dilemma if I had not studied education and received some fundamentals that would give me the basis to connect to the next step. We are like a jigsaw puzzle that makes sense when the pieces are put together. Piaget's theory also helped me to visualize this learning process that is linked to Gestalt.
La Gestalt es una corriente psicológica que estudia la percepción humana, el cómo somos capaces de organizar información en algo coherente para nosotros. Nuestro cerebro realiza estas operaciones (recibir información,organizarla y adaptarla) de forma automática y por ello la Gestalt se vale de leyes y principios que obedecen a la naturaleza del ser humano. Se vale de leyes porque todos podemos re-conocer una imágen que hemos visto con anterioridad, por ejemplo, los signos suelen ser representaciones gráficas reconocibles en todo el mundo (signos matemáticos, musicales, señales viales, etc.). Y se vale de principios pues este proceso de percepción también es individual y se obtienen diferentes resultados, por ejemplo, los símbolos obtienen una definición diferente dependiendo de la idiosincrasia de la persona (una esvástica, una cruz, un corazón, una balanza, etc.).
Todo esto cobra sentido cuando comprendí que el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje estaba vinculado a la forma en la que percibimos la realidad, en que mientras más información, más podemos conectar con otros conocimientos y llegar al llamado "insight", el resplandor, el llamado "Eureka". Pues todas las partes unidas forman algo mucho más grande que por individual. Por ejemplo, no fuera podido llegar al "insight" de este dilema sino fuera estudiado Educación y recibido algunos fundamentos que me dieran base para conectar con un siguiente escalón. Somos cómo un rompecabezas que cobra sentido cuando se unen las piezas. La teoría de Piaget también me ayudó a visualizar este proceso de aprendizaje que se vincula con la Gestalt.
So today I want to say that learning is indeed an individual act but that it can be guided through accompaniment (in a social way). That we all have our own moment of "insight" and that is fine. For example, today you may read this article and not fully understand what I am saying, but perhaps some time later, you will have an experience that makes you "see" what I explain here and say "now I understand". The learning process is not something that ends in the classroom, it accompanies us throughout our lives and the moment of "light" can be any moment. And that is why we cannot measure our process with other people. Even when we are in the same classroom, with the same teacher and the same content. We all have a time. The trick is to look for methods to learn the way we need to learn (useful learning strategies for us), to complement what we have seen in class, to be self-taught, curious and it is never too much to ask for explanations from anyone who knows about the subject. That will help us to see new perspectives.
Finally my friends, this is perhaps not a trick but a knowledge that I learned and was useful to understand many more things. It is a tool that I hope will be as useful to you as it was to me. Por ello hoy quiero decir qué efectivamente aprender es un acto individual pero que puede ser guiado a través de un acompañamiento (de forma social). Qué todos tenemos nuestro propio momento de "insight" y eso está bien. Por ejemplo, hoy pueden leer este artículo y no comprender del todo lo que planteo pero quizá tiempo después, tengan una experiencia que les haga "ver" lo que explique aquí y digan "ahora lo entiendo". El proceso de aprendizaje no es algo que termina en el aula, nos acompaña durante toda nuestra vida y el momento de "luz" puede ser cualquiera. Y por eso no podemos medir nuestro proceso con otras personas. Aún cuando estemos en el mismo salón, con el mismo docente y el mismo contenido. Todos tenemos un tiempo. El truco está en buscar métodos para aprender de la forma en la que necesitamos (estrategias de aprendizaje útiles para nosotros), complementar lo visto en clase, ser autodidactas, curiosos y nunca está demás pedir explicaciones a cualquiera que sepa sobre el tema. Eso nos ayudará a ver nuevas perspectivas.
Finalmente amigos míos, este no es quizás un truco pero sí un conocimiento que aprendí y me resultó útil para comprender muchísimas más cosas. That's very true, learning process in the classrooms are tedious and they can not comprehend with our real life in many ways. There are different ways in which we can get educated. Visuals are one good way of learning. Thankfully these days a lot of new learning techniques are coming up which is making education simpler for children
Greetings sweetheart 🙌 well I would say that depends on the teacher and the institution, there are several factors but finally we have to be active in our education. Look for alternatives to complement and make the process more effective. A big hug.
Soy un apersona que aprendo mas con la parte visual que teórica, es por ello que el apoyo visual en los momentos de enseñanza es vital pues no todos tenemos la misma percepción de las cosas.
Hoy día gracias a la tecnología existente musichimas maneras de estimular el conocimiento más aún en los niños.

I loved the read. The fact that education is important and can take us to the next level, phase or time in outr lives is precious.
Did it cost, well yes and no, intuition money and time to get things in your brain is time, but with education you get a better job so investing in yourself, well cannot be said to be to much cost.
So yes i consider it a life hack
