Going on a trip: Who can you leave your pets with?
RGreetings to everyone in the Hive Pets community! Today I'm joining you with new cat and dog stories. On this occasion, I'd like to talk about a topic that is often a little painful and difficult for all of us who have pets: traveling far away and leaving our pets in the care of a family member or friend. I think we've all had to make that decision at some point: to leave them or not to leave them with someone? So let's get to it.
This month, I have to travel outside my city for family reasons that I can't avoid (and beyond that), because I want to. The thing is, my husband and I have many cats and two dogs, so traveling without them and leaving them to fend for themselves is not going to happen. And to be honest, I don't trust anyone else to take care of them... Besides, there's no one willing to do it, and I understand why. There are a lot of them, and they can be a bit of work. So whenever one of us needs to travel, the other stays home to take care of the pets.
¡Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Hive Pets! El día de hoy me uno por aquí con nuevas historias gatunas y perrunas. En esta ocasión quisiera hablar sobre un tema que suele resultar un poco doloroso y difícil para todos los que tenemos mascotas: viajar lejos y dejar a nuestras mascotas a cargo de un familiar o amigo. Creo que a todos en alguna oportunidad nos habrá tocado pasar por esa decisión ¿dejarlos o no dejarlos con alguien? así que vamos a ello.
Este mes me toca viajar fuera de mi ciudad por motivos familiares que no puedo evadir (y más allá de ello), porque yo también lo deseo. La cuestión está en que mi esposo y yo tenemos muchos gatitos y dos perritos, así que eso de viajar los dos por fuera y dejarlos a su suerte no va a suceder. Y siendo sincera, tampoco confío en que alguien más los cuide... Además de que tampoco hay alguien con la disposición para ello y lo entiendo, son muchos y si suelen dar un poco de trabajo. Por lo que siempre que uno de nosotros necesita viajar, el otro se queda en casa para cuidar las mascotas.
The decision to accept living under these terms is sometimes difficult because we are somewhat “tied down” and unable to move around with the freedom we had before we had so many pets. For example, if we both needed to travel for an emergency or something we couldn't avoid, it would result in a huge logistical problem and we probably wouldn't go anywhere (at least not both of us). Although, to be honest, neither of us are big fans of traveling and moving around, so we really enjoy staying in one place. I'm just worried that when the time comes, we'll be forced to leave someone with them because we can't stay. I don't want to imagine what we would do if we had to migrate.
I think my situation is especially common among those who are responsible for many pets, such as rescuers from a pet foundation. One must take responsibility and accept the situation because, as I said above, they are important to me, and I enjoy their company. Some options I have considered are hiring someone to take care of my house and paying them well. Another option is to take some of them with me and leave the others with a family member. There is also the last option: putting some of them up for adoption if we find ourselves in need of doing so. Of course, some decisions are more difficult than others. La decisión de aceptar vivir bajo esos términos a veces resulta difícil pues estamos un poco "atados" a no poder movernos con la libertad que teníamos antes de tener tantas mascotas. Por ejemplo, de necesitar que ambos de nosotros viajemos por una emergencia o algo que no podamos eludir, resultaría en un gran problema de logística y probablemente no iríamos a ningún lado (por lo menos no los dos). Aunque seré sincera, ninguno de los dos somos amantes de viajar y movernos por ahí, así que disfrutamos mucho de estar en un solo lado. Solo me preocupa que llegado el momento nos veamos obligados a dejar a alguien con ellos porque no podemos quedarnos. No quiero imaginar cómo haríamos si tuviéramos que migrar.
Creo que mi caso debe sucederle sobre todo a quienes están a cargo de muchas mascotas, cómo por ejemplo, rescatistas de alguna fundación de mascotas. Uno debe asumir su responsabilidad y aceptar la situación pues cómo dije arriba, ellos son importantes para mí y yo disfruto su compañía. Algunas opciones que he meditado son las de dar contratar a alguien que me cuide la casa y dar un buen pago. Otra opción es llevarme algunos conmigo y los otros dejarlos con algún familiar. También está la última: dar en adopción algunos de ellos si nos vemos en la necesidad de ello. Por supuesto unas decisiones son más difíciles que otras. Mientras tanto, me manejo de esta forma. Justo en esa situación nos veíamos nosotros cuando de niña teníamos una perrita. Un día nos fuimos todo el día y al regresar en la noche, el desastre que encontramos no fue normal, así que papá compró una cesta para llevarla siempre, y ¡en autobús! pero ella se portaba de maravillas, aunque los viajes eran de 5 horas.
Con tantos, se complica más la cosa.
Saludos 🤗 jeje sí, cuando ellos se dejan solos por mucho tiempo se sienten estresados y hacen todo tipo de cosas. No es algo grato. Que bueno que tú papá encontró una alternativa para evitar que la perrita no se sintiera sola y tampoco hiciera desastre.
Por los momentos toca cuidarlos y no dejarlos solos, son muchos y ellos nos necesitan. Un abrazo, gracias por tu comentario.

We face this problem a lot of times, if we really have to travel, I am the one who will decide to be left at home. With all our cats, no one will accept to take care of them even for just days or week maybe. I think there are some place like those who take care of our pets if some had to travel. What do you call those? Like you can leave the pets for them for days or even month, with a price of course. Those who can afford this can leave the pets to them in the mean time. But for us, if its not needed, we will not left home and leave the pets. Adoptation is not an option too of course.
Anyways, its a good thing you have the setup when it comes to this kind of dilemma. At least the cat will be still happy at home even one of their hooman is not present. And hello to those cuties 🤩🤩😍🥰

Greetings 🤗 I totally agree. There is a hotel for pets in my city, but with so many of them and for so many days, it would be quite expensive. As you say, only those who can afford it. In the meantime, all we can do is switch roles (one at home and one on the street) so we can take care of them properly. Thank you very much for your kind comment.

Nosotros tenemos solo un perrito, es un cachorro y nos da cosa dejarlo solo, aunque yo quiero acostumbrarlo, aunque sea por algunas horas, pero por ahora lo llevamos con nosotros cuando salimos todos. Pero con tantas mascotas es mucho más difícil y más si es por días.
Saludos 🤗 sí, cuando están chiquitos es más fácil crear hábitos. Y también llevarlos con uno. Aunque bueno, a veces uno necesita tiempo para hacer ciertas cosas y uno no los puede llevar.
