Ending the weekend school: painting, painting, and more painting [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Daily Blog community! Today I'm joining you here to share with you a new day at school. As I mentioned a few days ago in a post, the school where I work is celebrating its anniversary month, and right now, in the Drawing Workshop, we were asked to do an exhibition in honor of the celebration. To do so, I decided that each child would choose a reference of what they wanted to draw or paint, so we had two days of hard work, color, painted hands, messy hair, and finally, a product they made.
¡Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Daily Blog! El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día en el colegio. Cómo les comenté hace unos días a través de una publicación, en el colegio dónde trabajo se está celebrando el mes aniversario y justo para nosotros en el Taller de Dibujo, nos pidieron hacer una exposición en homenaje a esa celebración. Para ello decidí que cada chico eligiera una referencia de lo que quisiera dibujar o pintar, por lo que tuvimos dos días de mucho trabajo, color, manos pintadas, cabellos alborotados y finalmente, un producto hecho por ellos.
By our second day of work, some of the children had already finished their work quickly, and we decided to make something extra to hand in. We got to work with those who hadn't been there the day before, and with those who were still finishing their work, we reinforced what was missing. I must admit that at some point I felt I was losing a bit of control of the group, as those who had already finished wandered over to each other's tables to look at their work or chat a bit. In this type of activity (painting), it can be a little more difficult to negotiate and keep the group calm because they get very excited about painting, and it becomes a very cathartic moment. However, it's necessary for them to learn to manage these stimuli and understand their true purpose.
Para nuestro segundo día trabajando, algunos de los niños ya habían terminado su trabajo con rapidez y decidimos hacer algo extra para entregar. Con aquellos que no habían ido el día anterior, nos pusimos manos a la obra y con aquellos que aún estaban terminando su trabajo, reforzamos en lo que faltaba. Debo reconocer en que hubo punto en que sentía que perdía un poco el control del grupo pues quienes ya habían terminado se paseaban hasta las mesas de los demás para ver los trabajos de sus trabajos o conversar un poco. En este tipo de actividades (pintar) puede ser un poco más difícil negociar y que el grupo mantenga la calma porque se emocionan mucho con la pintura y pasa a ser un momento de mucho catarsis. Sin embargo, es necesario que aprendan a manejar estos estímulos y entiendan su verdadero propósito.
With the second group, things are always calmer because they are older children, so they tend to be more reciprocal when it comes to following instructions and maintaining order. However, I'd be lying if I said I didn't occasionally miss the younger children with their bursts of laughter and witty antics that only happen at their ages. Finally, after a week of preparation, asking parents (and dads also doing their best for their children), getting them together and working, we had many results. I'm happy with their progress, because even though we've only been together for a short time, I know they gave it their all to complete their work. It was an exhausting week, and I hope both they and I regain our energy and enjoy the results. Without further ado, thank you so much for stopping by.
Con el segundo grupo, siempre las cosas son más calmadas pues son niños más grandes, por lo que suelen ser más recíprocos a la hora de acatar instrucciones y mantener el orden. Sin embargo mentiría al decir que de vez en cuando no extraño a los niños pequeños con sus desbordes de risas y ocurrencias que solo a sus edades pueden suceder. Finalmente, luego de una semana preparando, pidiendo a los padres (y papas también haciendo lo imposible por sus niños), de reunirlos y trabajar, tuvimos muchos resultados. Estoy feliz con el desarrollo de ellos, pues aunque llevamos muy poco tiempo juntos, sé que te dieron todo para hacer sus trabajos. Fue una semana agotadora y espero que tanto ellos cómo yo, recuperemos energía y disfrutemos de los resultados. Sin más que decir, muchísimas gracias por pasar por aquí.
