Another day at the dentist's office: Exodontia, an overwhelming treatment [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the Daily Blog community. Today I'm joining you here to share with you another day at the dental office. I previously mentioned that, for various reasons, patient traffic had decreased, so it was a somewhat tough month for us, considering we'd been maintaining a fairly good pace. Of course, the fact that long-standing patients are no longer coming in is a good sign, as all of them were treated successfully and don't need additional medical treatment. That's something we all hope for in any healthcare setting, as it means someone has done their job well, and patients can rest easy.

Anteriormente había comentado que por motivos varios la afluencia de pacientes había mermado, por lo que fue un mes un poco duro para nosotros tomando en consideración que habíamos estado llevando un ritmo bastante bueno. Por supuesto que el hecho de que ya los pacientes de antigua data no asistan más es una buena señal, pues todos ellos fueron tratados con éxito y no necesitan de tratamientos medicos extras. Eso es algo que todos esperamos en el cualquier área de la salud, pues significa que uno hizo bien su trabajo y los pacientes pueden ir tranquilos.
As December approaches, and with many starting school again, we hope the pace returns to what it was before. Things always have their ups and downs, so it's only natural that it's starting to pick up right now. Today we saw several patients; it was a busy day, and, if I may say so, quite tiring. Although that doesn't diminish the satisfaction. One particular case involved a patient with a fractured central incisor (a "front" tooth). Taking x-rays and conducting a clinical examination, the doctor determined that the tooth could not be saved even with root canal treatment because it had lost support; the tooth's root was fractured and had been infected for some time.

Las cosas siempre tienen sus momentos altos y bajos, así que es natural que ahora mismo comience a subir. Un caso en particular fue el de un paciente con una fractura en un incisivo central (un diente de "adelante"), tomando radiografías y haciendo examen clínico, la doctora determinó que el diente no tenía salvación ni con tratamiento de conducto pues había perdido soporte; la raíz del diente estaba fracturada y llevaba tiempo con una infección.
The corresponding extraction was performed. It was a bit complicated because although anterior teeth (front teeth) are theoretically easier to extract due to their position (they're not far back like premolars and molars, which are also larger and at a complex angle), this tooth was fractured and was extracted in three parts. These types of cases are always moving because, as I mentioned before, many people fear the dentist or absolutely don't believe they need their care, and once they are fully evaluated, they understand the serious consequences. Fortunately, ethics is something that every healthcare professional must uphold, and here it doesn't matter who you are, what you do, or even if you think you don't deserve care; The care is universal, without any discrimination. Se hizo la respectiva exodoncia. Fue un poco complicado porque a pesar de que los dientes anteriores (los dientes de adelante) son en teoría más faciles de extraer por la posición en la que se encuentran (no están hasta atrás cómo los premolares y molares, los cuales también son más grandes y en ángulo complejo), este diente se encontraba fracturado y se extrajo en tres partes. Siempre resulta conmovedor este tipo de casos porque cómo he comentado antes, muchas personas temen al dentista o definitivamente no creen necesitar de su asistencia y cuando se les realiza toda la evaluación, comprenden las graves consecuencias. I get nervous just thinking about it because I’m also scared of tooth extractions. I always feel afraid when I visit the dentist. It’s nice that you treat every patient with care and kindness. You are helping a lot of people, you really did a great job handling that case.
