28 paintings / 28 students: miniature painting series for my students [ENG/ESP]
Greetings to everyone in the community! Today I'm joining you to share a project I've been working on for the past few weeks. It's a series of miniature paintings I created as a gift for my students in the Drawing Workshop class at the school where I work. It was a small token of appreciation for them and also a way to say goodbye to 2025, since the last week of November marked the end of our first term. So, I didn't want to leave school without giving them something to show them how important and valued they are, and to let them know that their teacher cares about them. Join me on this journey.
¡Saludos a todos en la comunidad! El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes un proyecto en el que estuve trabajando hace algunas semanas. Se trata de una serie de pinturas en miniatura que realice cómo un regalo para mí estudiantes de la clase del Taller de Dibujo en el colegio en dónde laboro. Cómo parte de un detalle para ellos y también cómo despedida del año 2025 pues esta última semana de noviembre fue nuestro cierre del primer lapso. Así que no quería irme de clases sin antes darles algo a ellos para que supieran lo importantes y valiosos que son, además de que sepan que su profesora los estima. Acompáñenme en este recorrido.
For this painting project, I needed: large poster board, acrylic paints (yellow, blue, red, white, and black), paintbrushes, masking tape, scissors, a pencil, and cardboard. The plan was to paint a unique set of flowers for each student—one flower per student. This project also involved something very important: getting to know them, since that would determine the choice of flower and ensure they felt a connection to it. For example, my most lively, energetic, and daring students would have flowers with those characteristics: Gladiolus, Poppy, Rose. Overall, the garden was quite varied because each child/student is different. I tried not to repeat flowers, but some certainly shared certain characteristics. There were a total of 28 students/paintings.
Para este trabajo pictórico necesite: cartulina escolar grande, pinturas acrílicas (amarillo, azul, rojo, blanco y negro), pinceles, cinta adhesiva, tijera, lápiz y cartón. El plan consistía en pintar una serie de flores únicas para cada estudiante, es decir, pintar una flor por estudiante. Ese trabajo también conllevaba algo bien importante... conocerlos, ya que de eso dependería la elección de la flor y que se sintieran identificados. Por ejemplo, mis estudiantes más animados, con mucha energía y atrevimiento, tendrían flores con esas características: Gladiolo, Amapola, Rosa. En general, el jardín fue bien variado pues ciertamente cada niño/estudiante es diferente. Trate de no repetir las flores, pero ciertamente hay algunos que comparten características. Fueron un total de 28 estudiantes/pinturas.
So, on a 70cm x 50cm piece of cardboard, I adjusted the size of each painting to 12cm x 8cm. This was just right so they would be visible and give me enough time to finish. In total, I spent at least 16 hours painting. Some flowers were more complex and others simpler, but I tried to give them all a personal touch and ensure they were well-detailed. I also added acrylic paint and regular colored pencils, and on the back I wrote the recipient, the name of the flower, and its meaning. I must say the kids really liked it. It was lovely to see their expressions when they received their paintings and read the descriptions. I'm truly happy to have the opportunity to do this for them, as it's my first year and I want to give it my all. The group is quite good, and I'm really looking forward to 2026 because there's so much to do. Thank you so much for stopping by.
Así que en una cartulina de 70cm x 50cm, ajuste que el formato de cada pintura fuera de 12cm x 8cm. Justo para poder ser visibles y que me diera el tiempo suficiente para terminarlo. En total, pase al menos unas 16 horas pintando. Habían algunas flores más complejas y otras más sencillas, pero intenté que todas tuvieran ese toque personal y fueran bien detalladas. También añadí luego de acrílico, lápices de colores comunes y coloque por la parte de atrás a quien iba dirigida, el nombre de la flor y su significado. Debo decir que a los chicos les gustó bastante. Fue bonito ver sus expresiones cuando recibían su pintura y leían la descripción. Realmente me alegra tener la oportunidad de hacer esto para ellos, pues es mi primer año y quiero dar todo. El grupo es bastante bueno y tengo muchas ganas de que comience el año 2026 pues hay mucho por hacer. Sin más que decir, muchísimas gracias por pasar por aquí.

You have devoted a lot of time and love to these paintings, and it shows in the final result ❤️ They are beautiful; the sunflowers were my favorites!
