Now that I have a new phone, I've been transferring some files and photos to it, and that's when I came across some old pictures. They're not actually that long ago, but I love finding these memories; they're a treasure to me, especially for future generations. The photos I'm going to show you are from one of my great-nieces' birthdays. We had a wonderful time that day because it was one of those rare occasions when almost the entire family gets together, and we also get to see relatives and friends we haven't seen in a while.
Ahora que tengo nuevo teléfono estuve pasando algunos archivos y fotografías para tenerlos ahí, y fue cuando me encontré con algunas fotos viejas, aunque estas no son de hace mucho tiempo en realidad, pero me encanta encontrarme con estos recuerdos que son un tesoro para mí, sobre todo para esas futuras generaciones. Las fotos que les voy a mostrar a continuación son del cumpleaños de una de mis sobrinas nietas. La pasamos muy bien ese día porque fue de esos pocos en los cuales se reúne la familia casi completa, y además vemos a familiares y amigos que tenemos tiempo sin ver.
There I am in the middle of the photo, fixing my hair a bit. My brother is to my left, and to my right is my sister talking to our brother-in-law. I particularly enjoyed that day because we were sharing anecdotes from the past and reminiscing about the time we met our brother-in-law and when he started dating our sister, who passed away. We loved him like a brother and are grateful for the years of happiness he brought to our sister. On the day of the party, we were remembering many funny stories, like when we threatened our poor sister with telling our parents about her relationship with her boyfriend (now my brother-in-law) 😄 The thing is, back then they were still very young, only 13 years old.
Allí estoy yo en medio de la foto arreglándome un poco el pelo, mi hermano está a mi lado izquierdo, a mi lado derecho está mi hermana hablando con nuestro cuñado. Ese día lo disfruté particularmente porque estuvimos contando anécdotas del pasado y recordando los tiempos en que conocimos a nuestro cuñado y cuando se hizo novio de nuestra hermana que falleció. A él lo amamos como si fuese nuestro hermano y le estamos agradecidos por los años de felicidad que le brindó a nuestra hermana. El día de la fiesta estábamos recordando muchas anécdotas divertidas, como cuando amenazábamos a nuestra pobre hermana con contarle a nuestros padres sobre su relación con su novio (ahora mi cuñado) 😄 lo que sucede es que en esa época ellos eran todavía muy jóvenes, solo tenían 13 años.
That day we went early and helped my niece decorate everything. She made the cake and the appetizers while my daughters, other nieces, and I took care of the decorations. It doesn't look very good here, but I think it turned out nice.
Ese día fuimos temprano y ayudamos a mi sobrina a decorar todo, ella se encargó de hacer la torta y los páspalos mientras mis hijas, otras sobrinas y yo nos encargamos de la decoración. Aquí no se ve muy bien pero creo que nos quedó bonita.
We also made a Chinese rice dish that turned out spectacular and everyone loved it; we served it with canapé bread.
También hicimos un arroz chino que quedó espectacular y a todo el mundo le gustó, lo servimos con pan de canapé.
Of course, we had to take a picture with her brother, parents, and then with her aunts and uncles. Alejandra was very happy with the decorations we made because pink and lilac (her favorite colors) were the predominant colors. We also added tulle to the tablecloth, a detail she immediately noticed and loved because it reminded her of tutus, which she appreciated since she's a dancer.
Por supuesto no podía faltar la foto con su hermano, padres y después con sus tíos. Alejandra estaba muy feliz con la decoración que le hicimos porque predominaban el color rosa y el lila (sus favoritos) también le pusimos tul al mantel, un detalle que ella captó enseguida, y le gustó mucho porque le recordó los tutús, ya que ella es bailarina fue algo que apreció.
It was a day of reunions, memories, and laughter, so we had a great time. I remember I didn't take many pictures; I spent more time talking with my family and friends, especially those I hadn't seen in a long time because they had moved abroad. It was wonderful to see them again.
Fue un día de reencuentros, de recuerdos, y risas, así que la pasamos muy bien, recuerdo que no tomé muchas fotos realmente estuve más tiempo conversando con mi familia y amigos, sobre todo a aquellos que tenía mucho tiempo sin ver porque se había ido al extranjero. Fue hermoso volver a verlos.
I really enjoy gatherings like these and I pray that they continue so we can have more beautiful family experiences. I'm sending you all a big hug, lots of virtual kisses, and blessings for this weekend 🤗 😘.
