Mientras que el optimista sale a vender paraguas. Mientras que unos lloran; otros le venden los pañuelos. Y así pudiera mencionar muchos ejemplos de crisis y de oportunidades. La diferencia radica en la actitud, en la manera como uno ve la vida. ¿Cuáles son las herramientas que manejas para enfrentar ciertas situaciones?

The pessimist finds excuses for everything, while the optimist sees an opportunity in everything. On a rainy day, the pessimist complains, becomes bitter, and doesn't go out. Meanwhile, the optimist goes out to sell umbrellas. While some cry, others sell them tissues. I could mention many other examples of crises and opportunities. Mi naturaleza definitivamente va dirigida, o se encuentra enmarcada según mis características principales, en una persona optimista, en la crisis siempre busco la oportunidad, lo positivo, el aprendizaje que ciertas situaciones vinieron a enseñarme, busco la manera de sacarle provecho a las mismas.

My nature is definitely geared toward, or framed by, my main characteristics: I am an optimistic person. In a crisis, I always look for the opportunity, the positive, the lesson that certain situations have come to teach me. I look for ways to take advantage of them.

Hoy les quiero contar sobre mis aventuras con los niños a quienes les doy tareas dirigidas, como les describía en mis posts anteriores tengo un club de tareas dirigidas, voy a utilizar esta expresión porque yo siento, que, ellos lo ven así, se sienten así; porque, comparten, se ayudan, se protegen, se cuidan, juegan después de terminar sus tareas, los que más saben me apoyan con los que menos, los más grandes cuidan a los más pequeños y así día tras día nos comportamos como una gran familia unida que se aman entre sí.

I'm going to use this expression because I feel that this is how they see it and how they feel. because they share, help each other, protect each other, take care of each other, and play after finishing their homework. Those who know more help those who know less, the older ones take care of the younger ones, and so, day after day, we behave like a big, close-knit family who love each other.

En julio, luego que finalizaran de manera formal el estudio de contenidos nuevos, estaban en esa etapa de repaso, porque faltaban pocos días para finalizar el año escolar; ya no tenían tareas que hacer, lo que era indicativo que ya se acercaban las vacaciones y con ellas la ausencia de los niños, y en consecuencia mis ingresos semanales. Es ahí cuando mi creatividad y mis habilidades para aprovechar las oportunidades, se ponen a trabajar... ¡Boom, se me prendió el bombillo! 💡🙄💡🙄

In July, after formally completing the study of new content, they were in the review stage, because there were only a few days left before the end of the school year. They no longer had homework to do, which meant that the holidays were approaching and with them the absence of the children, and consequently my weekly income. That's when my creativity and ability to seize opportunities kicked in... Boom, a light bulb went off in my head! 💡🙄💡🙄

Tenía que planificar una actividad diferente de las tareas escolares, para que ellos se divirtieran y experimentaran algo diferente. Entonces se me ocurrió la genial idea de diseñar talleres para niños; planifiqué dos: uno para pintar franelas y el otro de computación. Por supuesto, antes de diseñarlos y ofrecerlos a los padres, les pregunté primero a ellos que si les gustarían hacerlo, a lo que todos respondieron que sí. Acto seguido planifiqué y estructuré ambos talleres, los cuales fueron un éxito total.

I had to plan an activity that was different from schoolwork, so that they could have fun and experience something new. Then I came up with the great idea of designing workshops for children; I planned two: one for painting T-shirts and the other for computing. Of course, before designing them and offering them to the parents, I asked them first if they would like to do them, to which they all replied yes. I then planned and structured both workshops, which were a complete success.

En el de computación comencé con tres y finalizaron dos. Pero en el de pintar las franelas, participaron todos. Ellos estaban muy motivados, entusiasmados y en consecuencia felices; porque estaban realizando una actividad totalmente diferente a las del día a día. Hacen muchos años yo pintaba y vendía franelas, las compraba al mayor, las pintaba a mano y luego las vendía, de aquella época me quedaban algunas franelas guardadas, las cuales aproveché para ofrecer el paquete completo, con la venta y diseño de las mismas.

In the computer class, I started with three and ended up with two. But in the T-shirt painting class, everyone participated. They were very motivated, enthusiastic, and consequently happy, because they were doing something completely different from their everyday activities. Many years ago, I used to paint and sell T-shirts. I would buy them wholesale, paint them by hand, and then sell them. I still had some T-shirts left over from that time, so I took advantage of that to offer the complete package, including the sale and design of the T-shirts.

Lo planifiqué para 8 horas, porque pensé que se les iba a hacer difícil pintar sobre telas, y porque hay que dejar que la pintura seque bien para darle otra mano, si fuese el caso; pero me sorprendieron, porque los más pequeños en 4 horas se culminó la actividad, porque yo le puse el toque final. Mientras que, las niñas más grandes pintaron y delinearon ellas mismas sus franelas y aún así cubrieron 6 horas nada más.

I planned for eight hours because I thought it would be difficult for them to paint on fabric, and because you have to let the paint dry thoroughly before applying another coat, if necessary. But they surprised me, because the youngest ones finished the activity in four hours, and I just added the finishing touches. Meanwhile, the older girls painted and outlined their T-shirts themselves and still only took 6 hours.

El trabajo fue tan satisfactorio, que les propuse que en el mes de noviembre, haríamos la de los motivos navideños, ¿y que creen?... Hacen varias semanas que me están preguntando: ¿cuándo vamos a realizar esa actividad? Ya una de ella compró la franela, estamos a la espera de que todos tengan la suya para planificar la fecha, para desarrollar la segunda versión de este taller.
