When Network Caused Me Depression

In the country I live, we have four network providers but three are majorly patronized by everyone. The four of them are MTN, Airtel, Glo and Etisalat. The first three are the most patronized by people.
MTN won the market back then more than every other network provider because of one thing, “free SIM cards”. One common thing among every Nigerian is that “we” love free things a lot. So MTN really won many subscribers using their Internet services.
By that time, I was still a kid but almost graduating from primary school.
My mom was not left out, she subscribed from MTN and was given three free SIM cards. Before I finally got a phone, I was always using my parents’ for assignments and gaming. But while in school, in high school, I heard friends talking about the Black Friday when things are sold at a discount of about 95% off the original price, meaning that I could buy my dream phone with just “ a coin”, lol.

I keyed into knowing more about the Black Friday on Jumia, an online shopping platform. I didn't have my account so I used my mom's account to do everything. During Black Friday, I waited all night to see if I could see any phone with a huge discount to order.
I refreshed the page many times as if that would guarantee me a phone, lol.
Since my Mom didn't let me know her bank pin, I had to connect my bank account where I had a little savings to her Jumia account.
Finally after I refreshed again and again, I noticed the appearance of a new product and guess what, it was an apple phone, iPhone 12 pro max with a discount of 98% off the original price but sadly only three were available for the offer. I felt so nervous at the moment, I didn't know when I began sweating and the seat I was sitting on suddenly began to feel hot, lol.

Without thinking twice, I tapped on order and guess what, I saw “order loading” and after a minute I saw “ordering”.
Who the “f**k” who would wait for such a hot order to last even a second?
Suddenly the network went totally down without a single bar. Normally when the network is good, ist would often show five bars arranged in ascending order but in this case, there was no bar at all, meaning the network was “dead”.
Within me, I knew I had missed the order, the best and biggest opportunity I've ever had in my life. I would have been the first in my family and in my school to possess the latest Apple phone of that year.
After some minutes when the network connection was restored, I refreshed and guessed what I saw, “order concluded, no more products available for this offer”.
That day, I knew that the network had not just let me down but had almost let me into my grave because that was what I felt when I missed that offer was equal to the scenario of being hit by a moving truck.
I had to sleep and forget about it because the more I think about it, the more I feel like smashing the phone and the worst part is that the phone isn't mine.
So sleep was the best option.
When I woke up by God's grace, I began to think about the case last night. I was thinking if it was witchcraft or “my village people”, my haters. But then I remembered one thing. Since the network provider I was using was overpopulated with customers, there would always be a crash in service provision at certain moments such as the Black Friday when many people would be using the network service. Then I began to reason why I wasn't among those whose network didn't crash and finally came to a conclusion of going to subscribe to another network provider like Airtel or Glo in case MTN fails me at a hot moment again.
Thanks friends for stopping by.

On the flip side, what if the phone had turned out to be what I ordered Vs what I got and network saved you? 😏
You took risk oo. Wanting to order iphone from your mom's phone. You're lucky your money wasn't taken before the thing was sold out. You'll have cried what isn't funny, that day 😂
I have never heard anything like 98%
% discount on iPhones before. For me, it doesn’t even seem legit. I’m glad the network did that o because I have a feeling your money would have gone into thin air.
