The Power of Hunger

Ever since I got admitted into the higher institution,I have been far from home. I live with my roommate,Jessy, who joins cash with me to pay for the house rent. He is a cool guy who loves watching movies. He could watch movies and stay hungry for the whole day.

I love home made food and take-out too but in different conditions. In a state of serious hunger, I would always choose the takeout meal. Another factor I would consider before choosing takeout is the distance from where I can get the takeout.

I can remember the day Jessy disappointed me. We were in different departments or fields of study. I was in the engineering department while he was in the estate survey department. I used to have classes stuffed up almost everyday but my roommate has some gaps most times. I would expect him to cook something for two before I return from all the heavy and stressful classes of the day. But it would always occur to me as usual whenever I return as there would still be unwashed pots since the last time I cooked.

I would not complain most times as he was not my house help but he would try to make me happy by telling me to join him in the cafeteria and promising to pay for my meal. He would still sit and watch his movies while I go get the food.

This habit of always going for a takeout when seriously hungry started from when I was in secondary/high school when I would return from school to see that my parents had prepared the food I detested the most(beans) .Since there were not home, I had an opportunity to purchase some noodles and cook a delicious meal for myself but I would rather wish to visit Pandora's Kitchen to fill myself with soup and "fufu",our most delicious local diet.

I can remember that the only day I took my time to prepare food even when I was severely hungry was the day Pandora's Kitchen only had beans left and the next restaurant was very far from home. I had no other option than to endure the hunger.

Throughout my three years in the university now, I only cook at night when I am not really hungry. Whenever I return from classes or wherever I went to and I am furnished, I would always visit the cafeteria to avoid fainting on the cooker. I love eating spaghetti with sauce and boiled bean cakes and eggs.

But the sad news is that I am now getting used to cooking than having a takeout meal due to financial issues. My parents mainly send me provisions and foodstuffs rather than money. My parents now only send me money for budgeted things and expect me to survive with the little provisions and food stuff. Whenever I am hungry now, I would always whip up my delicious homemade meal as I have no cash to get a takeout.

Indirectly if not for financial issues you would still be buying take outs?😂😂
I just remembered my university days, whether money or no money, takeout all the way until that very sad day I saw something unseeable in food
