One of the things I love doing at home is exploring new home items or should I simply day test them out. My aunty often makes liquid soap as well as bleach. I called them Homemade soap and bleach.

So today, I decided to try out homemade bleach. Bleaches are meant for taking off stubborn stains on white cloth materials. So today's laundry is dedicated to white clothes, lol. This is because my soapy mixture is going to be that of the bleach and the soap which are newly made. Any colored cloth material that comes in contact with this bleach and soap mixture loses its color.

For today's laundry which is dedicated to all white clothes, I didn't include the white shoes because the stains on shoes can easily be washed off without bleach and therefore won't serve as a suitable house item to test out the newly homemade bleach on.

This bleach test made me shake my wardrobe in search of all my white shirts and clothes, which include sleeve and sleeveless shirts, a turtle neck and lab coats.

After I had gathered all these clothes together, I went ahead to scoop some soap and bleach too from their containers.
For the liquid soap, it's made in larger quantities compared to the bleach so the soap takes the larger basin while the bleach is made in a used-paint bucket.
The soap basin is often exposed sometimes to let go of the fumes formed during its production process and also to assist its forming process. But for the bleach, it's a very dangerous chemical and needs not to be exposed at all. So my aunty often covers it and also labels it as bleach and warns that no one should leave it open after taking it.

From childhood, my parents had taught me the need to follow instructions. They have even told me their life stories that made me.to become more careful following instructions. So, after taking the quantity of bleach I needed, I covered the bucket as it was before.

Before my aunty learned how to locally make a bleach, I was always purchasing sachet bleach produced and packaged by bleach factories. This type of bleach often has guidelines such as "add bleach to soapy water and soak for at least 2-5 hours."

So after making my soap-bleach mixture, I applied the same strategy of leaving the soaked dresses for like 5 hours before washing them off. I soaked the clothes before leaving for church this morning and by the time I returned, I washed off the clothes and hung them on the line.

My aim wasn't just to do laundry of my white dresses but also to test the strength and quality of the newly homemade bleach. I had a lot of white clothes to wash today because I had already planned to test out the bleach on my white dresses, so I had piled up all my white dresses since last week till today since I actually have some spare ones to do with.

Thanks to today's favourable weather which assists my sun-drying to the highest level. For most manual laundry activities, sun-drying is always the followup drying procedure.

So after hanging all the white dresses on the line, I headed inside to let the sun's heat do the rest of the laundry work, lol. Here's another great importance of drying clothes with hangers on the line; for clothes like white dresses, dirty lines may leave unexpected stains on white clothes hung on them, thereby making the whole laundry process useless as one may not notice it until after drying.
But when clothes are hung with hangers, since the clothes don't have contact with the line, it doesn't matter if the line has some dust stains which may stain clothes or not.
But, before using the hangers also endeavour to rinse them in case the hangers carry stains themselves.

Guess what!!!
After taking off the clothes from the line, I searched all day for any stains on the white dresses and I found none. Even certain areas of the clothes like the collar and armpit that most times accumulate body sweat and stains were all as white as snow, lol.

This means that the bleach has actually passed my quality test and I can boldly recommend it for anyone. This test alone has given me the confidence to assist my aunty market it if she ever feels like to make her capital from the product.
The test has also encouraged me to become a minimalist by saving some money from buying bleach at stores.

It's often said that trying is never bad, you only learn a lesson if you fail after trying. So for me, I've tried and see the result, a very positive one indeed.
