Does Music Really Heal?

Sometimes whenever one falls sick or has health issues, the person is taken to the hospital and different medications are administered based on the symptoms and each drug has its price. But do you know what? There is one medicine, or should I say cure to many health issues that's free. It's music.
I've lived to find out that music is the answer to many problems in life.

Are you always suffering from stress due to work or depression due to past events? Then music can help rather than visiting the clinic incessantly.
Studies have scientifically proven that music helps manage stress. I won't go deeper into that but I have something interesting to share, a story of how music healed my dying soul from depression after a great loss.

I used to be a gentleman who only depended on the money he made out of hard work. I'm still a gentleman now though but something has changed about my motive and way of hustling for money.
I used to depend on money I made from blogging, paid writing, private tutoring and the rest, but later on, I was introduced to betting by one of my high school friends.

That habit is the worst ever, betting. It's one habit I would never advise anyone to try out. I became so addicted to gambling to the extent that it began to affect my health. Most times when I stake huge amounts of money and I'm about to lose everything, I often feel a sudden rise in my blood pressure.

When I heard that Drake, a Canadian rapper staked over $450k on a UFC fight, I felt so motivated to stake everything I had. I had to gather every cash I had, borrow from my sister and even withdraw my HBD savings. Everything was totally to approximately $30.
I staked everything without second thoughts.

I was never a lover of wrestling shows but that day I had to stream the fight online. I didn't understand wrestling that much, I didn't even know if the fighter I staked on to win was winning or losing, all I knew was that my money was cutting down.
That was my worst day ever. Everything I had made in months was lost in less than 24 hours. I didn't lose alone, Drake lost approximately 450k dollars that same day as well.

I don't know how Drake was able to recover from that feeling of failure and loss or probably $450k meant nothing to him. For me, the $30 was everything to me.

I was emotionally down. A state of intense depression is an understatement of my condition throughout that night.

But guess how I survived that night I felt I was never going to pass the night, it's music.
I was depressed, breathing heavily and sweating uncontrollably. The needs I could have used the lost money to solve were all ringing in my head and adding greater weight to me.

I didn't visit the dining that night. I went to my room, put on my headphones and began to listen to music.
The first song I listened to was “Don't Worry, Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin. The lyrics of this song were a healing to my internal wounds brought by depression and regret.

While I kept on listening to this song, I observed that my heartbeat started becoming normal meaning my blood pressure was getting normal as well. I didn't even know when I finally slept off. Sleep is another great medicine.
So, I took two different medicines that night which are music and sleep.
By the time I woke the next day, I felt very relaxed and OK.

It was then I realized music can heal.

There are situations in life that only music can address. I don't gamble but I can relate with the feeling from losing your hard earned money. Well thank God music came through for you. But please, dont gamble again 😁
