Puerto Rico on 35mm Film
A recent trip to Puerto Rico seemed like a perfect opportunity to dive into more film photography. It was a celebration for my youngest finishing up college and moving away to Iowa for his first official job after college. We are excited for his journey and a celebration was a perfect send off.
Puerto Rico has been a favorite of our family for some time. Starting back in 2013, we ventured there for two weeks over a Christmas/New Years holiday time and simple fell in love. When discussing where to go with the youngest, his choice was immediately Puerto Rico. So we booked flights, and reserved an AirBnB at one of our favorite locations...Luquillo Beach.
The condo we were staying in was right across the street from the beach, so palm trees were in constant view. There was a pool, a courtyard, and easy access to beach area. After stocking the condo with plenty of food and drink we were set for maximum relaxation.
Along with the youngest son, we also brought along his significant other. We consider her to be our "daughter-in-love" and soon expect there to be wedding bells coming so it was a no brainer to include her on the trip. She's a lovely human and we couldn't be more excited for her to join our family. In addition, traveling with her was simply a joy. She blends in perfectly with our family and made the entire experience seamless.
Of course we included some family pics along while there which makes being a photographer very handy!
Along with a trip to Old San Juan and of course the Bacardi Rum factory for tours/mixology classes rounded out a fun week of food, family, and fun.
All photos were shot on the Olympus OM-1 35mm Film camera with 50mm F1.8 on Kodak Gold 200. I shot about 4 rolls of 36 so I have many more photos I could share. Like all things film...some were good, some out of focus, under exposed, but all cherished :)
Those photos are great. You captured some wonderful memories, and the colors give them an old-time feel. Just fantastic 👍
Thanks! Those film colors are just special to me.
