Founders Should Plan to Work Past 65

Many people believe they have to retire at 65 years of age, but this is certainly not the case for founders and organizational leaders. I personally want to live as a leader and die without ever having to retire. I'm going to be one of those hardcore guys that say we died on the job.

But well there's a point where your body will stop you from being active. Look at good old Joe Biden. You couldn't even hold an argument during his debate against Trump and they had to put Kamala Harris in place of him.

Warren Buffett has announced he will retire at age 94. The man has worked for more than 60 years because he loved what he did. This is a perfect example of how your purpose can override your age.

More people are now working into their 70s and 80s. If you want to also do same, you must prioritize your health first. You can only work longer if you take care of your body, mind and heart. When I say heart I mean the organ itself and not that thing they keep talking about.

Exercise every day and eat healthy food. Be proactive in going to the doctor for checkups so health problems can be detected earlier. It's when you let yourself go that you draw closer to your grave. Continue to engage your brain through learning new things otherwise you're going to become slower than a tortoise. When you grow stressed, get away from your distractions and talk to someone you trust so they don't guilt trip you to oblivion, because that seems to be the emotional pandemic of this generation. They'll narcissistically kill you.

Rather you should spend time with the people you love. Give back to the community by mentoring or volunteering. Continuously remember what means the most to you.

To work longer does not mean money, it means doing something that means something. If you are creating a legacy, make sure you are strong enough to finish the journey. Stay healthy, stay sharp and stay connected.
