I really feel this aspect of what you said! I am choosing not to use AI tools for this very reason even if it means I am behind the curve, or even fighting the current in some aspects. Ultimately I chose to support my own creativity, sharpen my mind, and get back to the roots of my creative drive.

Though in spite of this lag, I'm sure eventually I'll get used to using at least some aspects of AI, as it will doubtless become just another tool at our disposal, kinda like the internet or the blockchains.
