Three beers and a story

Every family gathering is an opportunity to share a pleasant moment with a good beer, whatever the occasion. There will always be a very special reason to toast, and even if it's not so striking, the simple fact of being able to get together at home with my siblings is already a solid and special reason that we can't let slip by.

I remember those days when we used to enjoy a good beer, especially in hot weather, and also those nights when a good meal and a game of dominoes were reason enough to extend a celebration that usually lasted until the next day. And then? Well, obviously, the icing on the cake was going to the river to end one of those weekends that leave a unique and indelible mark on you.

Any favorite beers? Well, at first, regardless of price or brand, we would choose a particular type, but over time my siblings began to develop more selective tastes, and we would even buy more than three types of beer. While my sister is one of those people who enjoys trying different varieties, my brother usually prefers a classic beer such as Polar Negra, or " la Negrita," as my godfather and one of my uncles called it when inviting us to try this fine beer.

Unlike them, I am more adaptable when it comes to choosing. Obviously, my favorite is Solera Azul, but normally when someone invites me out or asks me what beer I want to drink, I immediately tell them that I'll have the same one they choose, perhaps as a kind gesture to reciprocate their invitation. Even if I'm the one who has to organize the shopping, I try to find out the tastes of most of the people present, while still buying a few of my favorites.

That's why it doesn't seem crazy to me that today, when I open the refrigerator at home, I find not one, but more than three types of beer waiting for my brothers and me. With work and other commitments, it's a little harder for us to get together as often as we used to, but we try to make sure that time apart isn't too long. At the end of the day, we end up talking about many things and reminiscing about past experiences that fill us with joy. It's as if these beers were waiting for us to enjoy another pleasant moment together as siblings.
